Re: Finally hatched some palembangensis

Sorry for not following up. They’re about 1 cm long and there are 20-30 I think. They are all over the place and hard to count. Almost all are off the baby brine and eating blackworms and adult brine.

Re: Finally hatched some palembangensis

As an update, at the risk of talking to myself, the fry are doing well with baby brine and are now 2-3 mm long. The parents are starting to stir and I think they might spawn again soon. Don’t know what to do with all the fry…

Re: Finally hatched some palembangensis

Also, found a dozen fry today in parents tank. Still alive but they seem skinny. Their tank is also planted so I guess they feed off of infusoria from the plants.

Re: Finally hatched some palembangensis

Still alive today. I’m guessing they’re living on infusoria . They do not seem to be able to eat baby brine yet.

Re: Finally hatched some palembangensis

Thanks. They’re stubbornly refusing everything, preferring to fight amongst themselves.
Well see

Re: Finally hatched some palembangensis

Maybe someone can answer this one. How long does it take for puffer fry to starve? It’s been 3-4 days now. They’re not visibly eating anything. I’ve put a ton of plants in the tank, and baby brine which they ignore. I don’t know if they are eating microscopic organisms or living on fumes. They’re st...

Re: Finally hatched some palembangensis

Man I need some help, not puffer dry mocking me. I threw in a ton of plants (Java moss, watersprite, cabomba) hoping maybe they’ll find some microfauna to eat. I feel terrible watching them starve to death. I’m going to get brine shrimp eggs tomorrow but I think too little too late. Any sources of f...

Finally hatched some palembangensis

Finally hatched some after many clutches of eggs. Of course I wasn’t expecting them and they are tiny. I only have frozen daphnia and I doubt they’ll live long enough for a brine hatchery to come on board. I’m sure illl get more though. Have any members bred these and if so what do they eat? (anythi...

Re: Palembangensis eggs

Just an update. The pair in question have laid eggs 3 times now. In each case the male fans them but they’re gone within 48 hours. They’ve used the same driftwood each time. I considered taking out the driftwood to incubate the eggs separately, but I’m worried it might spoil the mood. I think I keno...

Re: trying to get my dragon puffer to eat

Mine eat feeders, all size mealworms and earthworms. They can fast for long periods but usually will start eating eventually.

Palembangensis eggs

I’m hoping someone can give me some insight. My palembangensis group laid some eggs, which disappeared a few hours after I saw them. I’ve read suvatti males guard eggs but I didn’t see that behavior, though there is an individual that tends to hover there. I have a group of 7 with varying personalit...

Re: Palembang puffers together?

One last update unless these guys decide to spawn. I have 7 living together (about 3” individuals) and they all stay together, some literally stacked one on top of the other in a corner near one sponge filter. They are all eating and have fat bellies and there is no aggression, nor are there wounds....

Re: Baileyi

I hope you are right I’m setting up a 40 gallon with lots of cover to combine them. I am more convinced I have a pair if it is true the females have smaller barbels. They are still quite tolerant of each other and show no signs of posturing or biting at each other at the clear divider. The female le...

Re: Baileyi

I do not intend to combine them just yet. I'll probably spend a day monitoring them when I do. I don't think they need that much space. They both spend most of the time pretending to be a rock, and either they will coexist or not. If they are aggressive to each other no amount of space will prevent ...

Baileyi

Hoping someone can help me. I have a very friendly/aggressive individual that I’ve owner for 6 months. He’s like a dog and begs every time he sees me for food. I recently found a second which I hope is a female. It is slightly less spikey, but it has a very skittish personality. If I try to photogra...
