Re: Step One for Dwarf Puffer Setup (w/ picture)
From what I've seen posted online more than one puffer is just trouble waiting to happen. It's why I keep one! I have one in 50L, approx. 13 US Gal. It's very active, if anything I'd prefer to go with a bigger footprint so that there was more to explore.

Re: Dwarf Puffer tank
All of my original cuttings were from ebay and cost under £10 (approx. $15). I cut loads off all the time. I enjoy looking at the plants as much as the puffer
I've since moved the filter and heater inside the cupboard. I wanted them where I could see them to check for leaks as they were new.

Re: Dwarf Puffer tank
Bit of an update. Kept the plants under control by pruning more every week when I do a water change so there's plenty of open space now. Upgraded the filtration and heating to an Eheim 350 Plus (2215) canister with Eheim media pack and a 200w external heater. The old internal Fluval U2 wasn't provid...

Re: Dwarf Puffer tank
I really like your 110G pollypuff. I don't think there's a substitute for real plants, they transform a tank and keep it interesting as you can watch the plants growing as well as the fish. My Java fern is multiplying very quickly. I only added one, now I have about 6.

Re: Dwarf Puffer tank
This is my first proper go with aquatic plants and I've been pleasantly surprised. I had some great help from a guy on ebay who sold me the plants. My method is very low tech, minimal oxygenation, decent lighting and fertilizers. I do approx 25% water change each week and yes you're right I do not v...

Re: 10g dwarf puffer questions
Personally I'd say keep one and save yourself the potential trouble of having to rehouse the others. That's the route I took, I didn't fancy the stress of having to deal with multiple puffers. One puffer on it's own and you're guaranteed not to have problems

Re: Dwarf Puffer tank
The plants have gone a little bonkers. Not sure whether to trim some back or just leave it. My puffer doesn't seem to have any issues swimming through them and is always picking at things on them. I've been given a hard time when I posted pictures of this tank elsewhere, I'm told it's overgrown and ...

Re: Dwarf puffer help
ok re the lighting. Over that bowl you could easily get away with a 9w Arcadia Jungle dawn. It's a full spectrum LED bulb which will give you excellent plant growth, however lighting is just the half of it really. You need to look at adding a fertilizer really. You will need a holder of some kind fo...

Re: Dwarf puffer help
I like the new scape but your lighting doesn't look bright enough for plants.

Re: Dwarf Puffer tank
Thanks guys :) you probably wouldn't believe the growth on a daily basis. I enjoy looking at the plants as much as the puffer. It's constantly changing in there, this is my first proper planted tank and I couldn't be happier. With tanks in the past I've just used normal aquatic lighting tubes and le...

Re: Dwarf puffer help
I know it's not what you're asking but 3.3 gallons is what, 15L? I have one in 50L and was told it was verging on too small. Perhaps there simply isn't enough in there to keep it occupied? Mine glass surfed for 2 or 3 days but now it's always hunting around the plants but the tank is packed out with...

Re: Dwarf Puffer tank
So it's been a little while and I thought you'd like to see my plant growth. I don't use any O2 and oxygenation at the surface is minimal. The tank gets Dennerle V30 Complete all purpose fertiliser continually via a Dennerle Dosator V30: http://dennerle.com/en/products/aquaristic/plant-care/basic-fe...
