I can try to do a video, it may take some time though cause he stops shivering when he sees my phone, then darts away while giving me a grouchy/repulsed look. -.-

Re: Excited Puffer???

pH is pretty low for BW. What substrate are you using? What kind of salt? What's the harness test out as? For the substrate, i have a layer of CaribSea eco complete gravel, and coral sand in various parts of the tank (in his personal cave is a "3inch deep "Pool" of sand), sand under ...

Excited Puffer???

Hello guys, i have a quick question. A month or so ago, i purchased two figure eight puffers. Each one has their own tank, 20 gal each. Heavily planted with brackish tolerable plants, lots of caves and crannies for them to explore. One, which is quite fat, is doing fine. However, the other one, is…w...

Re: Do you think I'm ready for a F8?

Started on July 27, 2015 1. Using Caribsea Eco-complete, created scape in tank, and inch of water layer on top 2. Planted tufts of HC, and three anubias nana in substrate 3. Let plants and water settle for a week under high lighting for 12 hours a day 4. Using separate tank and buckets, aged water w...

Re: Do you think I'm ready for a F8?

I would highly recommend getting a bottle of calibration solution if the refractometer did not come with one. I actually have one on the way through amazon!! http://www.amazon.com/Standard-Seawater-Refractometer-Calibration-Solution/dp/B0053DSWJA/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1443948876&sr=8-10&a...

Re: Do you think I'm ready for a F8?

Congrats! How did you cycle this tank? You should be showing some nitrate. I'm afraid those beautiful plants are not going to appreciate BW. Thanks!! And really? @_@ I used the Tetra SafeStart, and the tank has actually been cycling for two? three? months now. I also used the Caribsea eco complete ...

Re: Do you think I'm ready for a F8?

I hear ya on the patience thing. It is rough. Take your time though...there's a lot you can do while waiting for the shipment to get in...for example: more research, tinker with your tank, make sure everything is just right again and again, spend more money on stuff you may or may not need :) Anoth...

Im crying guys http://i60.tinypic.com/332cktk.png Guess who this smol guy belongs to! I bought a liquid test kit, my ph is now a 7.5 with the black aragonite sand. Ammonia is 0, nitrite/nitrate is 0. Hes so happy, he's been exploring the tank for a while now, and pecking at all the snails…and kinda ...

Re: Do you think I'm ready for a F8?

I think i still have a lot of time to get more materials…8| Very disappointed, but again, we rarely get in figure eights, and this shipment didn't contain one. UGH

fingers crossed yet again, for the next shipment… Patience is definitely not my thing hah.

Re: Do you think I'm ready for a F8?

I guess distilled water is good enough for BW. I wouldn't trust it to marine though: http://blog.captive-aquatics.com/captive_aquatics/2011/01/refractometer-calibration-the-myth-and-risks-of-using-rodi.html …yikes! Well i'll see how the refractometer works with distilled, i can always compare it wi...

Re: Do you think I'm ready for a F8?

Hopefully you get him/her soon... I had to wait 6 months till my store finally re-stocked on them. I am from NZ and we have very little variety and infrequent supply. Fig8s are considered pretty rare to come across over here. Funnily enough, GSPs are highly common. * Also you cannot make requests, ...

Re: New to DPs!! ^^ Would love advice~

Hey guys! I know its been a while since I've posted on here, but as you might have seen me lurking in the brackish water areas, I've been attempting to get a(yet another tank omg) brackish tank ready for a figure eight puffer 8) However, i thought i'd post a picture of my piggy pea. I hate to have f...

Re: Do you think I'm ready for a F8?

You should aim for a high pH anywhere between 7.6-8.2. Anything in that range that remains stable would be fine. I think you will likely get a higher reading when you try a liquid test kit, those strips are cheap and nasty. If you still get a quite low pH it would be a good idea to switch out your ...
