I hear ya on the patience thing. It is rough. Take your time though...there's a lot you can do while waiting for the shipment to get in...for example: more research, tinker with your tank, make sure everything is just right again and again, spend more money on stuff you may or may not need :) Anoth...

You should aim for a high pH anywhere between 7.6-8.2. Anything in that range that remains stable would be fine. I think you will likely get a higher reading when you try a liquid test kit, those strips are cheap and nasty. If you still get a quite low pH it would be a good idea to switch out your ...
