You're right, it absolutely depends on the puffer. I had 1 that adopted some baby danios and a platy, and another that tried to kill everything it could reach. Avoid DPs that are attacking the other fish in their display tank, and see if your LFS will accept exchanges on fish that are too aggressive...

You might consider an antibiotic. The tail on your puffer doesn't look like a plain-and-simple bite wound, it almost looks like early fin-rot. I've never used an antibiotic on a scaleless fish; Seachem ParaGuard look like it would probably be safest, but I have no idea how effective it would be. The...

I'm guessing he/she's pecking at things that look like they might be food. GSPs go nuts for snails, and mine will bite anything small round and dark-colored (including freckles!)
