Added some shrimps with little issue.
One did steal a snail one of the puffers was feeding on and got swift retribution from the DP, lost part of one of it's leg but seems fine now.

Tank mates with DPs
After we lost our last group of dwarf puffers (whitespot) I added some female guppies to the tank to keep the cycle going. I have left the female guppies in and on the whole they seem to be co-existing well. I did expect some of the larger female fry to be attacked but this has not been the case. Tw...

Re: One picky puffer
We bought six DPs for my son's tank and we have the same issues, four readily take the bloodworm whiles one occasionally takes them and one shows no interest at all. I have a large supply of Malaysian Trumpet Snails from another tank but the DPs can't break down their shells so I crushed some before...

Re: Dwarf/Pea Puffer tank has landed!
All sorted now - Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0 and Nitrate less than 5.0
10 Guppies are now enjoying the space and will be in there for the next month. I'll be removing them before the puffers go in.

Re: Dwarf/Pea Puffer tank has landed!
Cycling nicely now - still adding flake daily. Ammonia is 0 Nitrite 0.25 Nitrate 20 I've added loads of plants which are growing like wild fire - did have a big spike in nitrates which seems to be dropping due to the plants. http://i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p658/jimbobw2000/fish/IMAG0516_zps34703...

No not yet, adding some flake now and again http://i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p658/jimbobw2000/DSCF6843_zps90d3b3dd.jpg Added some rocks and a couple of plants at the weekend - waiting for a delivery of plants from an online seller this week. Also have some redmoor roots to go in too - they're cur...

Re: Dwarf/Pea Puffer tank has landed!
Squeed out and matured filter sponge into the tank last week, it made a bit of a mess on the sand :( - took some reading last night: Ammonia was between 0.50 mg/l and 1.0 mg/l Nitrite 0.50 mg/l Nitrate 5.0 mg/l All that is in the tank at the moment is a few small ramshorn snails and two trumpet snai...

Dwarf/Pea Puffer tank has landed!
I went to have a look at some tanks today and came home with a tank and cabinet from one of the local stores I sell Bristlenose catfish too. I had £86 store credit from fish sales so this meant I paid just over £53 for the set up: http://www.aquaone.co.uk/aqualed.php It's a 68 litre (18 US gallons /...

Re: Pea puffer tank set up
I'm going to cheat and use some filter media from my other thank and add some guppies for the next month and a half before we add some dwarfsFishAdict wrote:Thanks now I just have to endure the slow cycling processAndy W wrote:Your tank looks great - should provide some inspiration for my puffer project.

Our other pets
I have three other fish tanks - a 240l South American themed tank - tetras, corys, bristlenoses, a 48 litre tank with shrimp, snails and guppies. The third tank is a 28litre tank where I raise the guppy and bristlenose fry. My wife likes furrier pets and had three gunea pigs. We also have a cat alth...

Re: Hello
We haven't bought a tank yet - it will depend on if my wife likes the tank as it will be in the lounge. She quite likes the design of this tank but at 25l (5.4 imp gallons) I think it may be a bit small. I presume I'd be looking at keeping a single fish in a tank of this size. http://www.pet-shopper...

Hello
Hi, I'm Andy and I'm about to set up a new tank on behalf of my son who likes Puffer Fish.
I've kept freshwater tropicals since I was 11 years old - 31 years ago!
This is my first foray into keeping puffer fish, we're sticking with fresh water and thinking of dwarf puffers.
