Water changes
I've kept tropical fish for over 10 years now and other family members longer, with great success . I've only ever done about a 25% water change once a month with no problems and healthy water conditions, 0 nitrate and 0 nitrite. Now, I've been reading that puffer keepers are doing 50% water changes...

Re: Raising and keeping the PH level
I raised my PH level from 7 to 8 by adding handfuls of crushed coral,
Do it week by week until you get the level your looking for.... Works for me

Re: Puffer tank mates
Going to try the bumble bee gobie, and my local supplier has 2 on order for me, I have 3 orange chromide's with them at the moment and they seem to be getting on well, if anything the chromide's are looking after themselves quite we'll, all fish are the same size, and sometimes happily swim around t...

Thanks for the welcome guys, some good useful advice here and my questions been answered with great response, Glad I joined. The tank has been cycled simply by setting it up the way you want it and running filters, heaters and lights etc 2 weeks before the fish go in, after this period of time the f...

Puffer tank mates
I wouldn't mind 2-4 other fish with my 3 figure of 8 puffers,
I've heard bumblebee gobies are a good bet with them and will also clean up any un eaten food,
Anyone got any advise or do I just stay with puffers?

Re: Do puffers like a strong current or still(ish) water?
Yeah they seem to like it, but there is still parts that are less speed and it can't be to bad as they do swim against it

Do puffers like a strong current or still(ish) water?
Maybe a silly question but what type of water movement do figure of 8 puffers prefer? The reason I ask is my filters are set quite high and producing quite a lot of water movement, great for circulation and producing oxygen of course but once the puffers get in the middle of the tank it looks like t...

Re: Puffer food
Well I asked for some MTS and they didn't have any, but like you said had some pest snails in another tank. He netted out a good handful, nice and small, so I put a few in with the puffers and they soon buried themselves (probably a wise move) the rest in a tank with a goldfish hopefully they will b...

Puffer food
Picking up my puffers tomorrow so of course will need some food, what do you guys recommend? Hoping to get some Malaysian trumpet snails of them for free too, but don't mind paying for a couple. Does anyone else feed they puffers these? I understand once or twice a week is good to give them snails, ...

Hi puffer friends
Hi guys, just joined the forum as I'm sure you guys can help me with any puffer problems I may encounter in my new hobby. Been keeping fish for a number of years but after a break of a year or two I started up again. Started fish keeping with a community tank, moved on to South American cichlids and...
