Cool! I've got a pair of khulis lurking in another tank, so they'll move in straight away, otos have been next on my hit-list of catfish for a while too. Thanks for the advice! :D

A concrete floor should be able to stand up to 2 metric tonnes without the least concern so long as you stick the tank on a load bearing wall. I live in a 250 year old wooden beam framed building that has suffered numerous floods up to the first floor in it's history and have 500 litres sat accross ...

Amphibians with DPs?

Finally got me some dwarf puffs! They're very small at the moment, about a centimetre long, and I was wondering what tank-mates would be cool. Currently they share a tank with some Iriatherina werneri (small rainbowfish) and some juvenile Geophagus Steindachneri, the rainbows are too fast to be caug...

Any links to info on this tanginyika puff? I'm a bit of a tanganyika fanatic, by far my favorite tank and about to get (another) upgrade in size... a puff would be cool to go in the present one, its 330 litres and already has the chemistry set up :D :D :D

If you want to feed crays to your puff the best thing to do is breed them yourself, they're very easy to breed and that way you'll be sure there's no parasites or diseases on them.. You should NEVER be putting wild caught animals in your tank without at least a 4 week quarantine and a comprehensive ...

Keeping predators with potential prey is a little unfair, sooner or later, your puffs going to notice them, and that's when you end up with mutilated and/or eaten crabs. If you want to keep hermits, set a tank up for them. The truth is you could have a fantastic marine tank with only inverts, and co...

Best thing to do is leave the cray whole 'n healthy, when your fahaka gets hungry enough the killer instinct will take over. While you are making things easy for him it's natural not to bother too much, after all if you had permanent free room service you wouldn't start cooking would you?

My rainbows have been having a great deal of fun with bugs this summer. Spiders have been munched, flies, woodlice, mosquitos (haha!) but by far the most exciting was the praying mantis that somehow fell into the tank. A full 2.5" long, he put up quite a fight until the cichlids noticed the fun...

Well, when you consider nature is constantly "changing" water, and doesn't come anywhere near the stocking levels we do in our tanks, its not such a big surprise that we think constantly providing the fish with "clean" water is a good thing. That's as may be but in the natural w...

Stick some good quality active carbon in the filter, do a change before you go and everything should be cool. My tanks have a 20% change once every 2 weeks, I have active carbon in my filters and in 10 years of keeping fish I have never had water problems in my established tanks. In fact, when I hea...

A mini fridge with a hole on each side the same size as my filter hosepipe with a couple of metres coiled inside, placed between the filter and inflow for my tank is doing a fantastic job here in Spain, with outside temps topping 45 degrees centigrade! The fridge I picked up from a camping store for...
