Re: Green Spotted Puffer - Ziggy Stardust
The HOB refugium i was looking at has a protein skimmer in it, I forgot to mention it. So once I have the HOB refugium with the protein skimmer and the live rock, I'm better off taking the canister off? Clearly I have research to do! The only saltwater I ever had was a 20 gallon with a HOB filter (p...

Re: Green Spotted Puffer - Ziggy Stardust
Thanks! If I get him into full marine sooner than later (while he's little), could I use a HOB refugium and live rock along with my canister filter? My canister filter is rated for tanks up to 65 gallons and circulates 185 GPH per the manufacturer, although I don't usually have it running full force...

Green Spotted Puffer - Ziggy Stardust
Hi, We got a GSP a few weeks ago for our 29 gallon aquarium that we bought used ... which ended up being a 37 gallon. Apparently the person didn't know what size it was. However, he is back in a 29 gallon because the center support on the first tank broke a few days ago and I had to buy a new tank -...

Re: New F8, have different question
Ozzie ended up dying a few days later :( ... his tail ended up much worse than it looked the first day when it was just some cloudiness on his tail in the center and had added melafix. By day two he had fin rot really bad (looked completely shredded when I woke up) and I added pimafix to the melafix...

earthworms
Hi,
When you feed earthworms ... do you buy them or dig them up in your yard? I do actually have lots in my yard and we don't use anything non-organic in our courtyard, so they are clean from that perspective.
Thanks!!!

Re: F8 Puffer Hovering = Sleeping?
Ozzie will do this if it is dark outside and the tank light is still on or the room light is on and the tank light is off. I think the bright light is bothering him. If I switch from white to blue LEDs on the tank light and turn the room light off he stops doing it and resumes normal behavior (eithe...

Re: New F8, have different question
Hi, It is actually a hang on filter ... not sure what he has in addition to that though. I don't know what he had in there either, I would have to ask and see what he says. It was also a 20 gallon, maybe a mini-reef but I'm just speculating. If the salinity would need to be the same then I will just...

New F8, have different question
Hi, I have a new figure 8 named Ozzie in a 20 gallon cycled tank (moved other friends to different tanks). He is currently in fresh water due to fresh water in pet store. I am familiar with converting to brackish and I had a figure 8 about 20 years ago but I had to give him away when I was in nursin...

Re: Getting new DP soon, question
Thank you everyone for your replies, my DP is doing great. My son is still calling her Puff or Puffie. I'm referring to him/her as Einstein in my head LOL! I asked the person I got her from how he sexed them and he told me that all of the small ones were girls and the bigger ones were boys ... so cl...

Re: Getting new DP soon, question
My tiny puff is here!!! I think my son is insisting on the name Puffs. I will try to get a decent picture when she gets settled in. Right now she is still in the bag acclimating with a little bit of new water and the snail the sender sent with her. I guess it was to-go food, but it's half as big as ...

Re: So, setting up a feed snail tank?
Snails will eat lots of things. Some really nutritious things you can give them are snello (you can find recipes online), Ken's veggie sticks with calcium, repashy soilent green, algae tabs, and of course veggies and lettuce which are less nutritious. The repashy soilent green is probably the highes...

Getting new DP soon, question
Hi, I will be getting one DP soon. I am rearranging tanks to make an established 5 gallon open for a DP. It currently has a betta and some nerites in it that will be moving to a different tank and some live plants (java moss and crypts). I am planning on adding more plants prior to the arrival of th...
