Re: Mbu feeding

Watch your fingers he could easily have them off, it will only take a lapse in concentration from either of you to happen. Fantastic looking fish btw I''m always careful. He's not very aggressive about taking the food, and pays no attention to my hands when they're in the tank. Sometimes I have to ...

Mbu feeding

Hey guys,

Here's my Mbu eating his last mussel of the evening showing off his jaw strength! Watch in 1080p if you can. :)

I did not. I decided to leave it be. I got to thoroughly examine it postmortem and it was just badly creased on the top few rays causing the whole tail to fold strangely when not splayed out.

What was in there where you saw the lump?
Nothing that I could see. I'm no expert on fish anatomy though. Nothing looked inflamed or discolored.

Re: URGENT Mbu swallowed a shell?

There was a recent post about this here about a puffer that had a shell stuck in it's anus. It passed on it's own. Puffers eat shells all the time & pass them just fine. Probably not feeling too great at the moment, which is why it's just laying there. Now if this is a tumor or something, I can...

URGENT Mbu swallowed a shell?

I got home from work and my Mbu is lfeless on the bottom of the tank. Giant hard protrusion half way down his body sticking out. I think it swallowed a shell. Can't reach far enough down the mouth to get it out. Any suggestions? Has 5 minutes to live tops. I've been rocking him under an air stone.

Re: Mbu tail injury, surgery fix?

But what about pain management afterwards? I'd consider that fairly big surgery, he's going to be in pain afterwards, and that alone could kill him. I wouldn't do it, I'd only subject Pig to surgery if it was that or death/suffering, and even then I'd have to weigh up the pain/shock factor. I don't...

Re: Mbu tail injury, surgery fix?

The fish is still a size that is manageable and its young. If it were me, I would probably try it. Since it is a fish that you own for the long haul (many, many years), I think it would be worth the try. I would do a lot of research first... This is my thinking as well. I wish someone would chime i...

Mbu tail injury, surgery fix?

Hi everyone, I made an account here to see if anyone has done fin/tail surgery on a puffer before? My 7" Mbu got sucked into a power filter at the LFS. He gets on just fine, but the top 1/3 of his tail is kind of gimped. It grew back and folded over itself. It's a purely aesthetic thing. Here h...
