lorteti breeding
I have a male housed alone in a 25 gallon (red sea max cube style tank) and two females housed in separate 10 gallon tanks. I wanted to breed them, by putting the females in his tank and then removing them when he starts to guard the eggs. It seemed to work the first time I added a female, with the ...

Excellent pictures of tetraodon schoutedeni, for sale in Japan.
Maybe they will become more common and less expensive. I wonder why they weren't available for so long.

Tetraodon Schoutedeni
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq9qfibRldw I just saw tetraodon schoutedeni listed on a West African list, it was $600. Above is a Japanese video of a group, it's a beautiful fish and there's a similarity to an Mbu, especially the tail. There are some other videos from the same user that look like ...

Re: Questions: Live blackworms
I had dwarf puffers eating only live blackworms, and they eventually ate frozen bloodworms. I don't remember how long that took or what led to them taking the bloodworms.

How large a tank for a pair of carinotetraodon lorteti
In a previous thread it was recommended to keep a pair of figure 8's in a 90 gallon. Is a 4' tank big enough for a pair of carinotetraodon lorteti, or is more space required? I have two tanks right now with a pair, and a pair plus a smaller juvenile. One is a Red Sea Max 2' cube, and is planted but ...

Re: How many figure 8 puffers in a 90 gallon
Sorry, it seems like a general rule that aggressive fish of the same species kept in groups should not be kept in groups that are too small, I didn't really wrap my head around the possibility that a pair or trio of puffers could actually work. In the previous post about how a group will become stab...

Re: How many figure 8 puffers in a 90 gallon
It's best to get a group of juveniles and raise them together, and when they are mature, they will naturally form a stable hierarchy, even with more than one male present? Except that the amount of males that can live together is limited by space, and if there are too many some will have to be remov...

Re: How many figure 8 puffers in a 90 gallon
Is it better to give a few f8 puffers lots of room to avoid each other or to have enough individuals that the aggression is distributed?

Re: red eye puffers in blackwater conditions
I haven't seen irrubescos lately, though at fish stores I've seen them much more often than lortetis or any other red eye puffer. There is possibly one male lorteti left on aquabid right now, from Jackson aquatics. I saw some from Bluegrass Aquatics recently, they are no longer advertised. The way i...

red eye puffers in blackwater conditions
I have a blackwater tank with 4 luciocephalus aura in it, I am going to upgrade to a 90 gallon or other 4 foot tank in the future, and I wanted to know if anyone has tried keeping carinotetraodon irrubesco or other red eye puffers in blackwater conditions. I know that carinotetraodon salivator was f...
