Re: Dwarf puffer not eating

I know, I am planning on giving up two once they reach maturity. I was hoping to be able to get the ideal gender ratio. Thank you for responding, I am a little concerned about her. The others chase her but I haven't noticed anything overtly aggressive on their part. However, she once went after a sm...

1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 10, pH 7.4 2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is. 20 gallon high, 6 dwarf puffe...

Dwarf puffer not eating

I bought six dwarf puffers about a week and a half ago. Everything is going well except that one of the larger puffers will not eat. I have give live ghost shrimp, live snails, frozen bloodworms, even some freeze dried foods to try to get her (I think she's a girl, I call her Melissa) to eat but she...

Re: My snails are not breeding, can GSP eat larger snails?

Haha! I wish I had your problem. My snails aren't breeding for me at all. The big ones I'm hoping will start reproducing soon, but I've been hoping that for a while.

Re: Teeth care

Snails are important. Think about it this way: would you feed your dog a vegan diet because you didn't like beef or lamb in his dog food? Puffers need snails for their teeth. Please think about the fish =) Some animals are meant to eat one thing and other animals are meant to eat other things but wh...

My snails are not breeding, can GSP eat larger snails?

What I've been doing is breaking the shell a little bit so that he can access the snail but still has to do a little work. Can he break the shell himself? The snails I've been giving are a little larger than a pinky nail and the GSP is around 2 inches. I wish the ramshorns would breed already, they'...

Re: Would you go back to this fish store?

I won't go back there, it's a good distance from my house anyway so I can just buy online. It's hard to find a good fish store around here. I sometimes wish I lived in a big city like Detroit so that I would be overrun with fish stores to choose from lol Thanks for the help you guys =D

Re: Dwarf puffer questions

Well, I'm setting up my tank tonight. Can't wait to get the puffers! Cycling the tank is always the worst part, watching it up and running with no fish in it and knowing that soon /soon/ you can add your fish. I found a filter under my sink, I think it's rated for 30 gallons but I might just end up ...

Re: Discus, dwarf puffers, and a new lfs

I live right in the middle of Michigan. It's a very small town so I usually go to a nearby town for supplies like Mt. Pleasant and that's where I found this store. I can't remember what it's called. The sign just says 'Tropical Fish'. The name is probably on the door but I don't know how this guy ge...

Re: Discus, dwarf puffers, and a new lfs

LOL It definitely is. I can't believe I didn't know about it. It's got the most ineffective sign and is in a poor location but I liked being there. The guy was very friendly and knew a lot about angels and discus.

Discus, dwarf puffers, and a new lfs

I went to a new fish shop today. It was really hard to find and specialized in angels and discus. The guy had some amazing discus in 90 gallon tanks. I was surprised that he kept them stocked so that they had room to move, most lfs keep their angels and discus crammed together. While I was watching ...

Re: Dwarf puffer questions

So, it would be okay to buy eight of them and wait for them to grow large enough to sort out the genders? Would that work in my 20 gallon temporarily? I know my local Redbird recently started selling fish (they had the most gorgeous pearlscale angels I'd ever seen at one time, nice 4-5 inch angels) ...

Re: Dwarf puffer questions

The dwarf puffers I would be ordering would be .3-.5 inches. Ordering more wouldn't be a problem. At what size do they sexually mature? The pufferpedia says that males have wrinkles around their eyes, is this very obvious? I've had live plants before, so planting the tank shouldn't be a problem. Do ...

Dwarf puffer questions

I'd like to get some dwarf puffers for an empty 20 gallon I have, am I right in thinking I can have four? Also, I would be ordering them online so I would be unable to sort out the genders properly before buying, what should I do about that? The pufferpedia says that it should be 1 male to a few fem...
