Re: Striped Redeye Puffer/Carinotetraodon Salivator Q's
It has been a bit since I posted. This tank is on hold for gosh knows how long since my peacock gudgeons have had babies so it's now a fry tank.

@gkai Good to know!
@RTR I see
My tanks all get weekly maintenance so it shouldn't be a problem I don't think.

Re: Striped Redeye Puffer/Carinotetraodon Salivator Q's
@RTR I understand being cautious, and appreciate the explanation. I was told this puffer wasn't a burrower so not sure if it's still as much of a problem? I'm not sure how to plant the plants if the sand isn't 2" deep, and I want the puff to have plants to hide in and make him feel comfortable ...

Re: Striped Redeye Puffer/Carinotetraodon Salivator Q's
@gkai & Pufferpunk I have sand in every single one of my tanks, I have no issues whatsoever keeping plants in them :) I only add root tabs for my swords, though this tank may be getting dry ferts using EI method and flourish excel. The only time I've heard of issues with toxic gas bubbles is if ...

Re: Striped Redeye Puffer/Carinotetraodon Salivator Q's
@Pufferpunk D'aw thank you so much for the offer! That's very sweet of you. I am ordering all of my plants at bamaplants though ^__^ Since I need lots of plants for my 129g figured I'd get ones for the 10 from there at the same time. Here's the tank so far. Very bare of course til I can get the plan...

Re: Striped Redeye Puffer/Carinotetraodon Salivator Q's
It's fine I figured something like that happened :P As said I plan on Anubias nana, pygmy chainsword, vesuvius sword, crypt lucens, crypt petchii..am not sure what else to add. Dwarf water lettuce for floating plant maybe? :) The tank will still likely get 50% W/C weekly regardless of planting..just...

Re: Striped Redeye Puffer/Carinotetraodon Salivator Q's
@gkai Thank you so much! The lighting shouldn't be too big of an issue as we have LEDs that can be dimmed. I will need to find the right balance between this, the puff's comfort, and the plants needs though. I really hope my puff begs for food like yours..or maybe not as imagine it'll be hard to res...

Re: Hiya! Intro w/ Pics~
Oh blarg! Sorry for late response again! @Pufferpunk That's funny you have the same skull ^_^ I quite like it. @sgtmyers88 Yeah I know D: Another forum told me a chemical to put in to kill it. I removed a lot of it by hand, and the flow in the tank is fine. It's gone now actually, just don't have an...

Dwarf water lettuce may not be in your LFS. I've seen it online. It's also illegal in some states as some consider i...

Re: Hiya! Intro w/ Pics~
What plants do you have in the 5g? I love them, I'd love to try some in my peapuffer tank! And do you fertilize them, how much and with what? (I've never really had success with plants, but I also do next to nothing to take care of them LOL!) Uh, one of them is java fern, I think that's the one in ...

Re: Striped Redeye Puffer/Carinotetraodon Salivator Q's
I'm sorry! :P If I don't ask I usually lay awake wondering about the questions. I want to be able to take care of my little fellow. I don't know why I didn't think about just breaking up the foods..duh! Glad to know having snails in beforehand is fine. There are plenty in there right now. Will do 50...

Striped Redeye Puffer/Carinotetraodon Salivator Q's
Hello! I have some questions about the Zebra Puffer(?)/Striped Redeye Puffer/Carinotetraodon Salivator. I will be setting up a puff tank in the future and thought it'd be best if I started gathering information on the specie that I want, and puffers in general. Sorry if the Qs are a bit all over pla...
