Re: HELP! green spotted puffer?
Get some small snails (LFS usually gives them away as they are nuisance snails). GSP's usually can't resist.

Re: Is my tank cycling again?
I recognize those spots.... Are you sure you have a GSP and not a T. Sabahensis like I had? Do some research and check out the pictures of the species. I say this because they ultimately end up in a freshwater system. I lost mine partially because of this. Hoping I'm wrong. Your rock scape looks gre...

Re: SICK GREEN SPOTTED PUFFER HELP! skinny!
How's he doing today? I've not heard of a "lump" like that. It's so frustrating when you don't know what is wrong. Mine randomly started darting or rubbing too. I immediately thought flukes but now I'm convinced that it was just strange behavior because of the IP's that he had. As long as ...

Re: Is my tank cycling again?
Ok, one thing at a time.... Fix the Ammonia problem first as this will kill your fish. Then deal with the Live Rock, etc. Baby steps in this hobby. I would leave that in the bucket for now with a heater and flow pump. I agree with PufferPunk, get a different test kit. Or even have the LFS test it fo...

While I lost my Puffy, there is lots of good info about how to feed and treat for IP. I even force fed mine because he wouldn't eat. Good luck!

Re: Is my tank cycling again?
It can be done without live rock & a protein skimmer but you have to do weekly/ bi weekly water changes. It takes a lot of work (I did it this way for years). Personally I don't reccomend it based on my own experience. HOB (hang on the back) filters really aren't good for saltwater tanks at all ...

Re: Building a 40g Breeder FOWLR tank for GSP
+1 on the sump. What are your plans for filtration other than the skimmer? In my experience Puffers are dirty eaters and you need lots of filtration. You could use your 20 gal for a DIY sump possibly or buy a 10 gal for this. Or even buy a ready made sump. It doesn't have to be a crazy, extensive se...

Re: Some people shouldn't be in the hobby
Its not even about the cost of it. It all comes back to negligence and animal cruelty. Did the person at the store actually sell them the fish? Ive had people at a chain refuse to sell me a fiddler crab because i said it was food for my puff. I didn't stay there until the end but he didn't sound li...

Some people shouldn't be in the hobby
So the other day I took a trip to the LFS. There was a family there picking out inhabitants for the little boys(maybe 8 yrs old) new small saltwater tank (not cycled or anything as he just got it the day before for Christmas). He's trying to put a Porcupine Puffer, Hippo Tang, Clown Trigger, Yellow ...

Re: My new immaculate puffer
Agreed. I only use bubblers when medicating- they also speed up evaporation, I loose enough water without help.Welch4 wrote:Additionally you should ditch the bubbler. In a salt tank its just going to cause spray, creep, and will etch your canopies.
Beautiful Puffer by the way..... Congrats!

Re: Your experiences with Live Rock
Funny El Scorpio! I actually just had my old formally bleached coral pieces in there as I was using that before  and the feather dusters started growin on them! The plan was to put base rock in there and more live rock when I moved it to the other room. The plan for the new tank is base roc...

Re: Your experiences with Live Rock
With just one small 1 lb piece added to my tank I got so many cool things..... A few brittle stars that came out at night, two white anenomes, feather dusters, a sponge, a barnacle, lots of pods and I'm sure a few more. The thing I loved the most was when I woke up one night and saw a star stuck on ...

Agreed.... I would re-treat for a IP. Maybe try to soak the food in Prazi?Welch4 wrote:I would do another anti parasitic treament making sure the the f8 gets some. Have you noticed any white stringy feces from the f8?
