On the east coast we have northern, box and porcupine puffers. They are all marine and I don't have a marine setup anymore. My only setup is a native fish tank and I don't want to ruin my tank by adding an invasive species. My LFS has Fakahas and Avocado puffers and that triggered my puffer urge.

Any freshwater puffers native to the US?

It looks like a Northern Puffer. I asked the store about a scientific name but it wasn't listed.

It's not a porcupine. I didn't want to sway anyone's opinion but it was labeled as a evil eye puffer.

The puffers look great. They are active, eating and picking at my rocks/statue. It is nice to have a fish in my tank that people will actually notice.
