A heavily planted or decorated tank is perfect for these guys. Inverts etc will likely get eaten but I had good success with large Amano shrimp.

They reproduce like rabbits if your water condition is kept right.

If possible try to get the larger of the two tanks for cleaner water quality in between water changes; however, only if the tank can fit your intended area. I wouldn't sacrifice more needed living space for a congo's larger tank.
