Re: Confusing suggestion from lfs
Thanks so much...I thought it was contrary to anything/everything I had ever read and to be honest I trusted my gut- they are so happy eating snails and yes quarentined- snails I breed, the ones I bought for them just two weeks ago for them are still in quarentine. I have noticed that the more snail...

Confusing suggestion from lfs

Went to my lfs to buy tiny feeder snails but was told by a vetren staff member my Saps didn't need the live food( the snails I ve been culturing and buying) only the mysis. Told the snails or live food is more of a treat. Am confused as eveything I've read, posts here an...

Re: Many fishes and a cat
Starlights will tend to keep their stripe and spots/ may be more circular and larger/ either white or orange, the peppermint will generally loose most of the tail stripe, maybe retain a small sliver and the spots are more like pinpoint white circular flecks/ of course-both subspecies have-hence the ...

Re: Many fishes and a cat
A Peppermint pleco is an L181, a larger sized bristlenose pleco, with little tiny white spots-kind of like stars often confused with a starlight/L182. They are called pepermint pleco in the UK, eastern Canada and in many parts of the USA, its the common name most people know them by.

Growth rate of SAPS
Wondering if anyone knows the growth rate or an approximate time/phases of growth about SAPs. When got them they said they were juveniles, am wondering about growth spurts, since they have been well from the ick they have eaten all the little ramshorn snails in the tank, and are eating mysis 3 times...

Many fishes and a cat
I started out years ago with a beta, who only lived a couple of years and then started a guppy tank, I still have some I don't know what generation of guppies, I add fresh genes every once in awhile, they live with my many bristlenose plecos and their babies, two clown plecos, I also have a peppermin...

Re: has anyone seen a southern puffer before?
I always thought those guys on tanked overstocked the tanks I agree with this post and I also HATE hate that show-not in it for the love of their fish,so in it for the money and the display aspect with no respect whatsoever for the well being for other creatures' quality of life! Glad others have s...

Re: New SAP
Yup just tested the water-definitely cycling, ughhhh-I've been keeping fish for so many years, and this tank for 5 set-up-have not had to deal with a cycle in years. Params are:ammonia <0.20, nitrites worry me though at between 0.5 and 1.0!!!!(have never seen it turn purple from blue before, ever), ...

Re: New SAP
Yes, could be a mini cycle. I had treated the tank as the LFS had said and then I did a 40% water change and added new activated carbon to remove meds. I have the temp at 31*C now. I have not used salt as I think I will have to remove my plecos, today do the 1tsp per gallon ratio(as it says in the p...
