Re: Looks like my puff can't eat

Aquarium salt does not make brackish water, marine mix does. Aim for an sg of around 1.004 for best health and longevity. You should not need to trim his teeth that often, try adding lots of snails to his diet. This is what my LFS sold me with my F8. Shocking now that I think about it. The testing ...

Re: What size for 2 dwarfs?

I would only keep a singleton DP in a tank that small myself. I would not keep them with a shrimp colony either. A ten would be a far better home for 2 DPs, and the small tank can be the home for the shrimp colony only. I was thinking of putting two DPs in my ten gallon. Would there be room for muc...

Re: Extremely small Fahaka, need help!

Here he is, moved to his new tank yesterday, and today he has been exploring the tank all day, combined with tailwagging dancing in front of me, begging for food =) He has grown about 6-7 cm since I got him, and is perhaps a little fat right now, but he is very active and moves around all day. http...

Re: Green Spotted Puffer Help! Parasite?

He's been through a lot so stress is to be expected, it's common for puffers to be calmer in the dark. Just bear with him and keep a close eye on him. I'm so glad it seems to be improving. Re: Happy Mother's Day

Yes, you guys scared the hell out of me when I saw this Mother's Day stuff. I literally soiled myself. When I started explaining to my wife how I must have forgot etc she laughed at me and told me it was a couple of months ago and the card is still out lol LOL...sorry Bertie! I did not know it was ...

Re: Happy Accidental F8 Owner

pssst..It'sJuly 1st..aka Canada Day..and the few weeks before and after is seriously good for freecycle/craigslist/kijiji trolling.. I once had to drive my mother back to PET on Canada DAy..between the moving vans and the parades..it took more than twice as long to get her there. Yes, my bad, July ...

Re: Brackish Water Plants

I have to use enlargement and color-control programs (visually handicapped) which can scramble some text. Adobe's various programs are not often an issue, all forms are up to date. Most things are manageable, some are not. Even here on TPF, some parts of the posts and forum format vanish into never...

Re: Happy Accidental F8 Owner

Personally I would hold out for at least a 55gal if you have space, we have a couple of them paid around $110 with Fluval 4 canister and lights, cover stand. As I say in month or so a lot goes on the market as people change apartments and do not want to drag the stuff with them. Picked up a saltwat...

Re: Happy Accidental F8 Owner

I'd love a large aquarium again. I think I might be a while away from that though. Quite like the idea of experimenting with a fishless medium sized tank for a while.

Incidently, in regards to rocks, what types would you guys recommend for non-marine set-ups?

Anyone know of a rock guide?

Re: Brackish Water Plants

PP: Reef-based algae are highly unlikely to survive at reduced salinity. From my few trial, Sargassum algae (Atlantic) was similar, but the higher temps may have be a contributor- the lighted refugium heated the display tank quite well. :( PufferGho/ti: I cannot bring that page up in a readable for...

Re: Happy Accidental F8 Owner

I originally started out wanting a small set up for the kids bedroom.....55g must be about 48" long? Yes 4foot, but around 12 inches deep, so quite versatile as not a large foot print, we have our south American puffers in one with a high flow stream power heads, another is the Brackish setup ...

Re: Happy Accidental F8 Owner

To clarify, some of the tanks had dividers, These days I am always looking at Kijiji for "value" tanks, I know some people might like to buy all 1st hand but there are plenty of bargains around, ESPECIALLY near Moving day in Montreal. A bit of tape and a silicone gun and your away.... htt...

Re: Happy Accidental F8 Owner

Yes PufferDek..I have all those puffers at the moment. I also have a couple more species on order that I'm hoping to be filled soon. At one stage back in UK I had over 20 tanks generally with 1 or 2 puffers in. Here's the list of puffer species I've kept before T MBu T Lineatus (fahaka) Takifugu ob...
