Re: Heat Intolerant Puffer Ich Treatment
The ich treatment has been completed. I've been doing daily 50% changes to reduce the salinity, and slowly brought the heat down. It is soooooo nice to have a normal acting fish again. He is back to begging at the glass for food, exploring his tank decorations and sleeping in his tree vs burying him...

Re: Puffer Songs
Purplecandle I laughed so hard I cried when I read your post.
Bertie I talk to mine all the time. His mouth movements make it look like we are having a full fledged conversation! I am forever hearing from the other room "who are you talking to? Wait let me guess... The fish!"

Re: Heat Intolerant Puffer Ich Treatment
I have the temp at 82 now with the additional oxygenation. I used the 70% ratio to measure my salt that you mentioned above and mathematically I'm at a teaspoon and a third per gallon. I kept the temp and salinity consistent during the water change and he is obviously better today, he's been roaming...

Re: Heat Intolerant Puffer Ich Treatment
He appears to be holding steady with the heat at 80 degrees. It is good to know that this is an acceptable temperature for treatment. I will add an additional bubble wand this evening just to make sure the water is as oxygenated as I can get it, maybe then I will be able to raise the temperature a *...

Re: Heat Intolerant Puffer Ich Treatment
Since the salt is already in the tank (and yes he is fragile, he has been treated for two types of IP's, epsom salt in the quarantine tank to pass a blockage and now the ich - note to self do not buy puffer from LFS) I would love to know what everyone thinks of the prolonged salt/lowered heat option...

Re: Heat Intolerant Puffer Ich Treatment
There's a bubbler in the tank... I called it an airstone (sorry not thinking) but its actually a 2 foot long green wand of nothing but bubbles.

Heat Intolerant Puffer Ich Treatment
Hello again! I started the Heat/Salt treatment last night for Ich and it appears I have a puffer that is extremely intolerant of heat. Anything over 80 degrees and he is bobbing at the surface and breathing very heavy. I tested all of the water parameters before treatment (with solution vs strips) A...

Re: Possible Fenbendazole overdose?
Found the sticky! (I didn't know about stickies...) fantastic information! I will try the jostling and timing for the nitrates when I test the water tomorrow.
I appreciate your patience and help. This is not my first puffer, but it is my first sick puffer.

Re: Possible Fenbendazole overdose?
Good afternoon, I attempted the Epsom salt bath but I have noticed (as he has been quarantined) that he is flicking and rubbing on anything in the tank. I have also noticed small granules attached to him that I had assumed previously was sand since he enjoys burying himself at night. I am now wonder...

Possible Fenbendazole overdose?
Hey guys/gals, I have been lurking in the forum for a while to see if I can find anything that matches what is going on with my fahaka puffer but I am at a loss. I have a 4 inch fahaka, water PH at 7.2, temp at 77, Nitrites 0, Nitrates 0, Ammonia 0, he is currently in a 65 gallon tank while I am set...
