Re: Extremely small Fahaka, need help!
Just stepping in to say hello, post a picture and sort of close the case on the nowadays not so little fella :-) He has grown very nicely and gotten so big that I had to move him from his 142 gallon tank to a 190 gallon tank. He seems very happy with the new tank and the layout. He is just over 30 c...

Re: how hard??? for teeth???
I feed my Fahaka both Appelsnails, Ramshornsnails and I also feed him landliving snails that I breed. I dont know if they are available in your country, but its worth to investigate. The snail I´m breeding is named Achantina fulica and is a very large snail, the second biggest in the world. They liv...

Re: Stress/stereotypical behaviour Fahaka
Thanks for your reply Bertie! I will move him to the bigger tank, hopefully this week, I have ordered background from BTN to prevent him from seeing his own reflection in the glass, and this must be put in the tank before he can move in =) I will reduce his feedings, but he will not get big feedings...

Hi! My Fahaka, who is just about 10 inches long now, and about 4 years old currently lives in a 375 liters tank, waterparameters are perfect and he feeds on hard food every day, he is in very good condition. About two weeks ago I came home and walked in to the room where his tank is, and he got so s...

Re: how big is your fahaka
Mine is about 3 years old, and has grown from perhaps 10 cm in february when he came from the petshop, to about 17-18 cm now, just a couple of months later, he is severly stunded from living in a to small tank with the prior owner.. Lives in a 120 gallon planted tank, with some platties and danios- ...

Re: Extremely small Fahaka, need help!
Here he is, moved to his new tank yesterday, and today he has been exploring the tank all day, combined with tailwagging dancing in front of me, begging for food =) He has grown about 6-7 cm since I got him, and is perhaps a little fat right now, but he is very active and moves around all day. http:...

Re: Extremely small Fahaka, need help!
He will be moved in a week or two to a tank that is close to 120 gallons. In that tank I will use two fx6 external filters and change 40-50% water two times a week. I do that already in the slightly smaller tank that he is in right now, and that keeps him and the tank healthy and happy. I would neve...

Re: Extremely small Fahaka, need help!
Today the little fella got a shrimp with shell, probably for the first time in his life! He thought it was fantastic, the whole thing was over instantly and his belly became considerably rounder ;-) I have eastmatied that he has grown about 5 cm since he came, and he will get a bigger tank soon. I w...

Re: Optimal setup for Fahaka!
Well, the footprint is absolutely bigger in the 540 liter tank, that tank is 150 cm long, 60 cm high and wide. The 375 liter tank is the same length, but 50 cm high and wide. I am thinking of a corner filter, like the hamburger mattenfilter. I will fill the corner with cut filtermatcubes, bioballs a...

Optimal setup for Fahaka!
My little fella is currently living in a 250 liter aquarium, and he is now about 15 cm long (and over three years old, has been in my care a couple of months) I am planning on moving him to a 375 liter aquarium, will that be sufficent for him? When he came to me he was about 10-11 cm long, so he has...

Re: what plants do u have in your fahaka tank
I keep Vallisneria, Crypts, Javafern, Anubias, Red and Green Lotus, Swordplants and different types of floating plants with my Fahaka. He dosent touch them, no biting or uprooting. The tank is actually my old aquascaping tank and is heavily planted.

Re: Extremely small Fahaka, need help!
I will try to catch the platties that are in his tank, but the tank is heavily planted and they are so fast =( Perhaps when they are grown I can take them, they are only halfgrown now. It was stupid of me to even think he would leave them be, Fahakas do have a bloodthirsty reputation =)

Re: Extremely small Fahaka, need help!
Here is an update on the little fella, he is thriving and getting on really well! He has grown a little bit more, and really shows color now, the beautiful red stripes on the belly =) In his tank there are some small fish (danios and platties) that I couldent get out, they were there when he moved t...
