Re: Extremely small Fahaka, need help!
Well I saw the photos and it looks like a healthy young Fahaka. All proportions look correct, just doesnt match the age. I would rehome her in a much larger tank and see what changes take place.

Re: Extremely small Fahaka, need help!
I would love to see a photo of this fish. A 3 year old Fahaka that is only 5cm" or so big, doesnt sound possible. Even a stunted fish would be larger than that after 3 years. Unless it was kept in a Betta bowl.

Re: Need help IDing this FW puffer
I agree with purplecandle. Not a Ceylon but an Indian spotted puffer or Giant indian puffer. It is not a happy puffer and needs some TLC but full of life so saveable.

Re: possible tank mates for my baby fahaka
I have had more than one Fahaka over my years with tanks and I find as long as the tank mates are: 1. constant swimmers 2. you start them together when they are small, 3. Grow at the same rate as the Fahaka. and 4. the Fahaka is prpperly fed, you can house a few fish with your Fahaka. Yes I know man...

Re: difference between baby mbu n baby fahaka
Fahaks and Mbu puffers look completely different from one another. I baby Mbu looks just like an adult. Very little variation as they mature. A fahaka has Verticle stripes running the length of its body and the Mbu has more of a spot pattern.

Re: what food is best to breed for your fahaka
Marmorkrebs or marbled crayfish as they are also called. They will do well in a 50gal and in about 3 to 4 months, you will have a renewing supply of food that Fahakas love. All marmorkrebs are female and you dont need to worry about mating as they are self cloning crayfish. Once they have matured, t...

Re: is my tank "busy" enough?
I wouldnt worry if you have only had him for 18 hours. New environment, The move, etc. It is all very normal for a little while.
As he settles in and gets accustomed to his new home, The shrimp are who you should worry about. Haha

Re: New member here from Massachusetts
So many things to address... My original Fahaka was in a 90gal where she lived with a snakehead(no longer legal), an Avacado puffer, a Manaquense, a Plecko, and a wolf fish. I lost them all in my move. My Mbu is in a 200gal and doing fine. Yes she is still small and plenty of time before she outgrow...

New member here from Massachusetts
Hello all, I just found this site and I am very happy to join and hear from other Puffer fish friends. I have had puffers for over twenty yrs. My first puffer was an Avacado puffer which I had for about 6yrs. I miss this puffer but she bit me every time I worked in the tank. I have had a Fahaka puff...

Re: How do I identify my new Puffer? Having trouble.
This puffer is available in my area but having a little trouble identifying it. The seller says it is about 5" long (12.7cm) I thought it looked like a figure eight puffer but I have never heard of one that big. I then thought it might be a Mbu but the markings are not right. It looks a bit str...
