He's in freshwater right now. I thought it would be easier on him to just stay FW since he was in that at the LFS. Anyhow I have a filter already so would you recommend just starting the 46 gal out as freshwater and then increasing salinity by 0.002 weekly or start out with salinity?

Sorry puffer punk...but are you referring to the instant cycling with the 10g tank contents since he's already in there or the just moving directly to the 46g and using safestart. You had said both so I just want to make sure. I would like to go to salt water but the up front costs are a little much...

Thanks for the info PufferMe. I will definately get a floating thermometer and see what the true temperature is.

I actually didn't have a heater in the tank due to my apartment being so warm. It's winter here in wisconsin and with being upstairs it's pretty warm. I have a sticker type thermometer though. How accurate are they? Are they more likely to read ambient temp then the true temp of the tank?

Unfortunately my little gsp passed away while I was at work today. I wish I could figure out what went wrong.

Also I just found a box elder bug in the tank. Must have crawled in there somehow. Could he have ingested that?
