New GSP ...help??
Hi guys, So, I could not control my urges any longer and went to the LFS today to get a GSP. I had a nice 25g tank in storage that I scrubbed, cleaned and cycled with some filter media from my existing 17g DP tank and also lined with crushed coral for substrate. This will not be planted like my DP t...

Re: DPs with weird behaviour
Hey Mania, glad to know that you got your DPs already! This might be a little late to share, but my DPs did the same thing when I first introduced them to their new home as well. They skated up and down the side of the tank surface (right under the outlet of my HOB filter) for the first couple of da...

Re: Stocking, lighting & filtering questions for 17g DP tank
Hey guys, thanks for all your kind and helpful input and comments. I really appreciate all the advice that I have been given here; else, I would have been quite lost with all the differing information that I have found online. I haven't had the chance to be on this forum for the past week or so beca...

Re: Diablo is hungry.
films about zombie kittens I would watch that :D http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/mushii/0DCC396BA6.jpg Zombie cat is unexpectedly scarier than imagined, but I still prefer Resident Evil's zombie Dobermans, hehe. I really think thier is a spoof film about zombie sheep too...people either hate s...

Re: Stocking, lighting & filtering questions for 17g DP tank
If you just stick with lo-light plants, you don't need any of that stuff. Too many chemicals for me! Check out this site, I swear by their stuff: http://www.yamatogreen.com. Thanks for the link, PP, I will be sure to consider that range of products once I finish using my current supply of Seachem. ...

Re: Stocking, lighting & filtering questions for 17g DP tank
Paws. i was at Seaview today but where exactly are the Mbus? Are they located right at the back where the big fishes are kept? As for planted tank, you may want to get your fertilisers namely SeaChem's Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorus, Trace, Excel and Iron. There are basically what i bought and use...

Re: Diablo is hungry.
Well, he's a handsome little fella, that's for sure. Snakes really are a misunderstood species, no thanks to all those ridiculous Anacondas, Snakes on Plane, etc, movies that stereotype them as some vicious monster. Pfft, you don't see people making films about zombie kittens or mass-murdering sheep...

Re: Stocking, lighting & filtering questions for 17g DP tank
Really need to take the LFS assistant's words with a pinch of salt next time. Even less than a grain, IMO. They're there to sell you stuff. IMO, planted tanks are NOT that easy. Unless you're running CO2, stick with low-light species. Plant those dracenas in a flowerpot. ;) Haha, yeah, I guessed I ...

Re: anyone expirience from great to bad water in 3 days?
Aight, thanks for the confirmation, guys. Looks like the Marimo will have to go when I use Flourish Excel. Duly noted. But what about algaecides (chemical specifically meant to kill algae)? Are they good for use when taking in consideration of the health of the tank in the long run? Or is it still b...

Re: Stocking, lighting & filtering questions for 17g DP tank
For the Mbu thing.. back then I was one of those a%*hole that didn't do any research and bought it on impulse. I didn't know what that was either and no one from the shop told me that this is the largest fw puffer on planet earth.. And they attempt to sell them in pair at a discount.. good luck to ...

Re: What did you do with your tank today
Bought a canister filter, a tank light, four aquatic plants, and some plant supplements for the new tank. Gave the plants a thorough washing, installed the canister filter, arranged the plants in the tank and also put up the tank light. The canister filter was awesomely quiet, the tank light looks g...

He's beautiful! I used to keep a few tree snakes myself but I'm not very familiar with the larger species. He looks like some sort of boa constrictor to me??

Re: Stocking, lighting & filtering questions for 17g DP tank
First off, you have non-aquatic plants in the tank - the green with white striped leafed plants are Dracena, a land plant which is not aquatic. Get them out and replace with true aquatics. They are commonly sold for submerse use but do not do well there. 3WPG is high light regardless of the spectru...
