Re: Not getting snails!
Thanks for the replies. Actually, the "supplier" did indicate they were eating "canned crabmeat, frozen bloodworms and flake foods". :? No mention of snails. I wonder how long they are with the supplier after they are caught? Canned crabmeat is weird and I know flake foods are ou...

Not getting snails!
I have two amazon puffers, had them for about 3 weeks. I've been feeding them bloodworms and trying to get them to eat snails but they just don't seem to get it. I've crushed them and seen one picking at it, but I didn't feed them anything g else today, they are acting starving, but are ignoring the...

Re: not eating well..
I don't think I see a sharp point in the middle. It's not really easy to see but what I can see looks pretty normal. Thank you!

Re: not eating well..
***update*** my little guy is eating again, gaining weight (looks MUCH better!) I've been deworming with gel tek ultra cure px. His ich is gone and he has a buddy who appears to be doing equally as well. I did get the finquel but I'm wondering if I should examine him or leave him be for a while? Tha...

Re: not eating well..
When I get the finquel I'll examine and cut them if need be. They say "as short as feasible;" does that mean almost to the "gums" or jawline, whatever that would be called on a fishy :). And suggestions as to whether or not use the ultra cure px or the prazipro to treat for ip? T...

Re: not eating well..
Yes, I was wondering if he was thin as well. (Since i dont have others to compare him to). he arrived looking like that. For the first week or so he was eating bloodworms pretty heartily. I saw him eating "at" a larger snail today. I read that treating for internal parasites was important....

Re: not eating well..
Tried to take some photos but they came out blurry or you couldn't really see anything. Looks like he still has ich too. (Now that i examined him in full light). Can I change anything or stick with the higher temp water and salt? It looks slightly better, but still there. I will crush the snails. I ...

Re: not eating well..
Any ideas how to encourage him to eat snails? There are a couple in there that are slightly too large but I just put another the right size and he won't eat them. I saw him dart at one of the larger ones (not big but slightly larger than eye size) but gave up on that quickly. You think it's possible...

Re: not eating well..
Thank you for the link puffer punk. Purple candle... His current tank is not completely cycled. (Long story but he arrived before I thought he would.). When the other arrives they will be moved to a cycled tank. I treated the ich with salt/heat and it appears mostly gone at this point.

not eating well..
Hi all! I am new to puffers and absolutely adore them! I have one amazon puffer (and another on the way). Anyway, my current always seems hungry (sounds like most puffers are) and has been eating frozen bloodworms well until the other day. (I've only had him about 2 weeks). He hasn't eaten any of th...

Re: Help! New Puffer covered in white!
Ok thank you! I do have an air stone in there. I'm not positive the temperature is correct, I have a stick on thermometer and it's not reading, the floating thermometer broke and the water doesn't feel like 80 degrees or more... What's the best thermometer to use? Thanks again!

Re: Help! New Puffer covered in white!
I did read the article and it said "Do not use "aquarium salt" as that has no legal definition." That is why I asked if I could use it. I'm not the one who mentioned marine salt...
