Re: Fahaka eating algae
I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen my f8 puffer actively "graze" on algae on rocks. It's not going to hurt him, think of it as some much needed fiber!

Re: Vacation Options
My f8 never had any health issues and I moved at least 3-4 times a year from my dorm to home (1/2 hr away) For your situation though, 3 feedings spread out over that time should be fine, as most puffers can go a couple of days to a week without food without any ill effects (larger fish are less like...

Re: Callamanus Worms... Need advice
Thats the first article I read after id-ing the worms, and it makes no mention on dosing the food with levamisole hcl, just the water.
I assume that dosing food is uncecessary then?

Re: Callamanus Worms... Need advice
I did a search a a few times, and either the info I'm looking for isnt on this site (google has failed me too), or I suck at using forum searches. I could find nothing on treating the actual food of the animals, so I'm guessing tank treatment is sufficient? Doesn't seem right to me, considering they...

Re: What do you feed your figure 8?
The ones I buy come frozen and already soaked in vitamins (hikari is the brand name I believe, but store bought clams are just as acceptable..) You should feed enough for all the puffers to have slightly larger then pre-meal bellies about once a day to once every 2-3 days depending on the puffers si...

Re: What do you feed your figure 8?
Absolutely! I haven't fed mine snails for months, as I have too many tanks to care for already.
Clams on a half shell, frozen snails, small pieces of various shellfish all work fine.

Clams on a half shell. Snails can be bought online and frozen, though it's easy and cheaper to breed them.

Re: What do you feed your figure 8?
I feed mine calamari, clams on a half shell, bloodworms (a treat), and fresh live snails. Foods like these are OK, and there are many more acceptable alternatives. I defrost in a small shot glass with tank water in it, dont feed your puffer frozen food! I made this mistake before and the poor guy ch...

Re: Irrubesco or DP?
http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/ug.php/v/PufferPedia/Freshwater/C_Irrubesco/ ^ read the min tank size! The pufferpedia reccomends 20g, and thats MINIMAL, not reccomended tank size.. (I personally usually go 1 step above) NTM, irrubesco is MUCH rarer to find in the fish trade than dps and will li...

Re: Dwarf puffer intelligence
They appear to be about as intelligent as any other puffer.. Mine know who feeds them and come begging and swim towards me when they see me! Fish in general are smarter than people give them credit for, but puffers just seem to burst with personality! Someone else may be able to better answer though...

Callamanus Worms... Need advice
Hello, I hate this to be my first post in a long while (comp was broken for while, among other lame excuses for my loooong absence)... but it is what it is. I hope to be more active of late. Anyways, I digress. As you can tell by the thread title I have recently have acquired some fish infested with...

Re: Sick Figure Puffer
DFS was recently sold to Petco. My guess is you could do better. GSP Freak, why'd you tell him to treat for ich? This is NOT ich, it's fungus. Sorry for your loss... He was doomed, I'm afraid, as soon as you added that LR. Please don't give up. Wash everything with hot water & a light bleach so...
