Numbed fingers: Puffer toxin?
Hi, I have 2 GSPs in a 55g tank. Today was hot, so per usual I put some frozen drinking water bottles in their tank to cool down the temperature. After the frozen water bottles melted, I retrieved the bottles from the tank as I usually did. Not long after that, I noticed a slight numbing sensation o...

Re: New impeller making noise already
Pufferpunk, I currently have a 55 g nano tank with 2 tetra whisper 60 power filters. If I get an aquaclear, do you think I should get 2 Aquaclear 30's, 2 Aquaclear 50's, or 1 Aquaclear 70? Arny, I had tried the oiling method. Unfortunately that didnt fix it, which was understandable since I had the ...

New impeller making noise already
Hi, Just got a new impeller to replace the old broken one. It's been less than a week and the Tetra Whisper 60g filter has already started making that humming noise and overflowing with water out of the tube, making that waterfall sound. I've read about not changing the filter media (the white mesh ...

Lighting Optimal for GSP
Hello, My light fixture for my 55-gallon GSP tank recently broke. I am looking for a new fixture, and was wondering what the optimal light temperature (kelvin) is for GSP? It is my understanding that GSP have sensitive eyes to light. I'm currently looking at a Fluorescent one that has Kelvin rating ...

Re: How do I effectively measure MS-222?
So essentially the amount does not need to be completely accurate, just an estimate?
I've tried 200mg on my puffer, but he didn't get knocked out.

How do I effectively measure MS-222?
Hi, I got FInquel/MS-222 for my puffer's teeth, but am having a hard time measuring out the amount (100-200mg/l) on my mini scale. Are there alternative ways of measuring the amount? Can I simply estimate the amount? If so, what would be a comparable capsule size for the amount mentioned above? I re...

Re: Change of Substrate
Okay I just bought some colored pebbles. If I take out all the sand and just replace is with the rinsed-pebbles, will it mess up the tank cycle?

Re: GSP's Growth Rate
What are you feeding? Are you adding vitamins? Water change schedule? Try to get that nitrate down a bit. SG? Here's what I've been feeding them: Live ghost shrimp Sun-dried Gammarus Snails Occasionally some crickets Occasionally frozen bloodworm I've always fed them generously, 6 days a week, so I...

GSP's Growth Rate
Hello, It's been almost 5 months since I've gotten my 2 GSPs. They have grown approximately 0.5-1 cm in this time span. I was wondering if this is the normal rate of growth for them? My fear is that they may be stunted. The tank is 57g and they are 1.5-2 in. big. The following are the water paramete...

Change of Substrate
Hello, I am currently using regular sand as my GSPs' substrate. It's been about 4 months now and I'm starting to notice dirt and debris collecting on the sand and am having difficulty removing them (as the sand gets sucked up too when I use a vacuum). Is it okay to completely replace my entire sand ...

Re: What to do with old water?
Well I knew that plants can't handle salt, so the purpose of this question was more about what level of salt they can tolerate. I asked because I didn't want to waste water that could otherwise have other use.

What to do with old water?
Hello,
I keep my s.g. at 1.008-1.010. Is it okay to use the water (during WC) for the plants in my backyard, or will it kill the plants? There's also Seachem, nitrate, etc. components in the water.

Re: Where do I get my shell fish foods for GSPs
Okay I will try that.
Also, this might sound like a stupid question but, for the frozen foods (mussels, crabs, etc), should they be raw or cooked?
