He should be on on a better diet than brineshrimp. Check out the feeding article in the library I have read all the feeding articles, and I fully understood well before I got him what he needed to eat. At the pet store, all they fed him was brine shrimp and krill, and I'd imagine that since they ha...

Nice shrooms! Your puffer won't eat them if they don't taste good (& they don't). Should be fine. What size tank is it? Fantastic deal! It's a 90 or 100 (I keep forgetting). It'll be temporary while he's a baby...I'm in the process of acquiring a 150 at the moment, that'll be his permanent home...

Porcupine and Live Rock

OK, so, I've acquired a nice large saltwater tank setup just recently, that has about 100 LBS of live rock in it. It has 2 clown fish, a royal goby, and a hermit crab...which we are going to trade at the LFS for one of their baby porcies...(finally a tank that can hold a porcy, my dream is coming tr...

I have 2 55 gallon tanks setup. One has 2 GSPs, and the other has 1 GSP and a Ceylon. Nothing more will go in either tank (well, other than more deco).

GSP and Ceylon

Well, since we're moving, we decided to give our 40 gallon tank to our my wife's little sister. That was the tank that we had our Ceylon puffer in. He got moved to a 55 gallon tank - talk about moving space. Lucky him. LOL. Anyways....I knew that at some point the 55 gallon we have setup that has 3 ...

Moving!

In 2 weeks, I'm moving 2000 miles from Indiana to Arizona. I have 4 pufferfish...all juvies...any advice on moving them? The trip is going to take 3-4 days.

Puffer Aging

I realize that there are a lot of "ifs" in this question, but about how long does it take a Ceylon puffer to mature to adult, assuming that it was properly fed and cared for?

Well, I thank you all for your input. Thank goodness that I have all the equipment I need to go high-end brackish, and thank goodness I went to a 40 gallon tank instead of a 20 like I was going to.

Too bad I can't keep 2 of these guys in my 40, that would be nice. Ah well.

Wow, hey, 3 posts in a row...lol. *edit* ok, someone got the post in before I submitted....heh *edit* Anyways, I called the pet store, and they told me that the tank that they keep they pufferfish in have BOTH Figure 8 and Green Spotted puffers in it. So, it seems like I either have a Figure 8 like ...

Also, if it is a Ceylon, then I'm worried about him since the pet store had him in FRESHWATER. I'm slowly moving him to brackish, but apparently, they need high-end saltwater.

What exactly is the SG of high-end saltwater?

I guess now that I look at it, he does look like a Ceylon...guess I won't be getting anymore for this tank like I was going to. :)

Well, I got the video up. Word of caution: It's 11MB, but any smaller, and the quality was horrendous. It's WMV format, so almost anyone should be able to view it. Here is where you go to get the video: http://www.zippyvideos.com/7577911554935536/pufferfishvideo/ Let me know what you think. :)

I tried giving my puffer some snails for the first time today. At first, I just dropped them in the tank to see what he would do...he investigated them, but didn't do too much at first. So, I took the snails out and crushed them. After I put them back in, he had a blast eating them. I got it on tape...
