Re: Baby Fahaka Pics
Get rid of the feeder fish ASAP. Find them new homes or return to the pet shop. Sir yes sir, right away sir! Wow who taught you manners? Take a feeder fish back to the store. Why so it can die in the filthy feeder tank or so it can be eaten be another fish? I personally hate using feeder fish but a...

Re: Baby Fahaka Pics
I never feed feeder fish but when I got the Fahaka he wasn't eating anything. The guy that sold me the puffer said he was eating feeder fish so I figured I would give it a try just to get him some nourishment. Well that gold fish is a feeder fish that has grown extremely fast in the past month. I wo...

Re: Baby Fahaka Pics

I also have a large round one on the other side of the tank the same color. I have plenty of area that is just sand in case he decided to bury himse...

Baby Fahaka Pics
So some of you know I finally found a baby Fahaka. I received it on July 5th. When I got him he was full of IPs. At one point he was stuck to the filter I really didn't think he would make it. It has been a struggle the past few weeks nursing him back to health. He didn't eat anything the first week...

Re: Fahaka Puffer with IP's (pics)
So he is starting to fill out nicely. He ate a few of the feeder fish that were in his tank and just started taking black worms on Saturday. He is still not interested in clams or snails. he took two bites of cooked shrimp and ignored the rest. My hopes are high that he is going to pull through (he ...

Re: Fahaka Puffer with IP's (pics)
So he took frozen brine mixed in with the live brine. I am going to do frozen brine tonight. He didn't take any of the like black worms. I am going to try and put the worms in again tonight before the brine. If he doesn't take the worms I will try the clams in garlic again. He didn't bother with the...

Re: Fahaka Puffer with IP's (pics)
GS need to be gut-loaded with something high protein or they are the same as BS. IDK why he'd prefer something dead, over live food. I don't know either. This puffer is a mystery to me. I have had a GSP and F8 puffers for years and never had a problem with any of them eating. I can try worms again ...

What about krill or ghost shrimp? He ignored the earth worms and blood worms. I can try the black worms.

Re: Fahaka Puffer with IP's (pics)
So I am happy to report my Fahaka has made great improvements yesterday. I went home with every intention of having to force feed last night. On the way home from work I stopped by the LFS and picked up some live brine shrimp (one last ditch effort). When I got home to my suprise he was swimming aro...

Re: Fahaka Puffer with IP's (pics)
I can do that. Do you hold the fish in a net or do you try to do it right in the tank?Pufferpunk wrote:You'll have to attach a few inches of air hose to that, to get the food directly into his stomach. I'd mix in meds & vitamins with bloodworms.

Re: Fahaka Puffer with IP's (pics)
I have the little syringes to give babies/toddlers medicine. Would I use that and what brine shrimp or blood worms?Pufferpunk wrote:I bet they burrowed. Sounds like force-feeding may be in order. Often, animals that have been starving, never eat again.

Re: Fahaka Puffer with IP's (pics)
Freshwater fish rarely drink water. They are hypertonic to the water around then and thus cannot avoid taking up H2O by osmosis through their skin and gills. But that is pure H20, just water, not the things dissolved in it. Marine fish are the opposite - they are hypotonic to their surrounding, and...

Re: Fahaka Puffer with IP's (pics)
Meds in the water are a waste of meds. As long as no fertilizers have been used in your garden, those worms should be fine for him. You are the second person to tell me that. I guess I will give it a try. The instructions on the bottle said to dose the water. I will do a 50% water change tonight an...
