Re: How can i move my puffer ????
Suvatti, what I do is this- I have a big net...BIG net, big enough to block my puffer and that's really the only thing I use it for. I put it between me and her when I need to do something in the tank and I don't want to get bitten, hold her back with one hand on the net and plant/clean/whatever wit...

I use black sewing thread, but I've also heard of people using fishing line and even super glue.

Re: The Walking Dead
Glad I found this, it's good to know I'm not the only one! I am a huge fan of the comic book, as well as the series, as bumpy as it has been...the storyline HAS been changed around quite a bit for the first leg of the show, but it looks like they are on track to bring it around closer to the comic b...

Re: Update on Button (DP)
The new tank looks great, I bet the plants will come in better there. Do you do any fertilizer dosing?
Button. Aw...I love that name. Very cute little dwarf puffer you have there! Hope she is happy in her new home, once she settles in!

Re: nitrate level
FII: Nitrate is not an organic ion. It is inorganic. It is not significantly adsorbed (not "absorbed") by GAC (granular activated carbon). Reports to the contrary are mythology. PP: The carbon block or bottle referred to is a DIY version of an anaerobic denitrification device such as the ...

Re: Squee's 8g set up
Your flourite should be fine, it's chemically inert so it shouldn't matter how old it is. The root tabs break down and should be replaced every month-3months, but I have to admit I do it less than that, maybe every 4-6 months. Hope that helps!

Re: Squee's 8g set up
Thanks guys! Hadla, the substrate is a 50/50 mixture of the fluval ebi shrimp stratum (comes with the ebi set-up and is supposed to lower pH) and seachem flourite. With it mixed, I still stay around 7.6, we have hard tap water here in Houston. No Co2, but I'm dosing liquid ferts: Flourish, Excel, Ir...

Re: nitrate level
Hello it's the tap water but my better testing kit is saying 20 from the tap and it soon drops after changing the water, is it a safe level for the fish to be in for the short time untill it drops? I have been doing 35% water changes twice a week. I thought it should be ok just as is. My old liquid...

Re: nitrate level
The level is about 10-20 now i did a 25% water change two days ago i think it's the tap water then it soon drops after going in the tank. I can't afford a Phosphate reactor and i never even heard of them before. I don't like unknown stuff going in the tank. The only thing that goes in is water and ...
