Re: building a 3D rock feature background - Safe?

not sure that hosing it would work. The lime has to actually leach out, and to my understanding that's a process and not something done quickly. was just wondering if there was some kind of aquarium safe agent I can put in the water to force the lime out faster. I'll just keep this up and see if any...

Re: building a 3D rock feature background - Safe?

ok. so i used all aquarium safe tools and materials, and I'm busy doing daily empties and refills of the tank with the feature in it. How many refills it takes to get pH down .... time will tell. Second one done today. The water is super murky. I read it might take up to 15 or more to leech all the ...

Re: Betta splendens vs Ramshorn

k, tnx. it was just a floating idea. I've spent the past few months on "it depends" with my 3 puffers. Gave 2 away only to find the 'docile' one is also a murderer and killed off tank mates that have worked for others in the past. So Tsuki is getting a little downsize of tank and will be o...

Betta splendens vs Ramshorn

Hi all...I was just curious as to whether or not my ramshorn snail farm would be depleted by a Betta splendens (aka Siamese fighter)

that is all for now.

Thanks in advance

Re: why are my mollies acting like morons?

UPDATE I only now have one puffer, Tsuki, and 2 mollies. 1 male and 1 female. the female seems to be hanging in there, but does swim a little bit wonky still. I have blocked the filter area with filter floss for now, and looking into a new filter since I found my poor little Franz, bb goby, half al...

Re: why are my mollies acting like morons?

Ok, thanks guys. I have 2 dogs, but they are outdoor dogs ONLY, and the tank is in my bedroom, and since my boyfriend and I work all the time, nothing and no-one goes in there. The second male died last night, and the female is looking really wobbly. I saved her again from the filter for the fourth ...

Re: why are my mollies acting like morons?

Yea, the one male swims up to everything, living or not and smooches them....hence the name Smooch. Tsuki (the f8) just darts away from him, she doesn't even retaliate. I had 2 males and 2 females, but the one female was the first to die the filter-death :( and with regards to redoing the tank...I a...

Re: why are my mollies acting like morons?

u really think so? They never had a problem with her for a couple of weeks, and she's never shown an interest in any of them. The other Molly doesn't worry about her at all. In fact he gives her kisses all the time. Well, anyway, is there something I can use to block the gap behind the filter to sto...

why are my mollies acting like morons?

Hey... did a water test today: ph 7.5; amm&nitrite 0, nitrate below 20. temp 27 (celcius)... (110L tank long with 1 goby and 1 f8 & was 4 mollies now 3 and possibly be 2) This is my story: I had 4 mollies (they are the small balloon type mollies - not sailfins) and I came home from work last...

Re: URGENT NEED HELP: 2 dead tankmates within the month!

Update on this situation: I returned the plec and Paku (the more aggressive f8) to the LFS, unfortunately my friend could not afford a setup to adopt him. I removed Fig and Tsuki and placed them in a temporary smaller tank while rearranging the decor and leaving the mollies in. A few hours later, wi...

Re: building a 3D rock feature background - Safe?

for now I can't do anything cos plans are relocating to the USA from South Africa, and I can't take my fish with me, so once I'm there I'll make sure I get the right size for that project and the fish. But that doesn't stop me from getting excited about things now!

building a 3D rock feature background - Safe?

http://www.instructables.com/id/3D-Aquarium-Background/?ALLSTEPS I've been checking out ways to fill in the back of my tank. I'm tired of looking through onto the wall and seeing wires pulled behind the tank, I also want to give my fishies a more 'realistic' environment. Would creating this be safe...
