Re: HELP on burrfish

I tried soaking with garlic. He didn't buy it :( But on a happier note, I read a thread on MFK. Pufferpunk, you posted in that thread as well. Someone who bought a dog face and a burrfish had difficulty getting the burrfish to eat. What she ended up doing was catching the burrfish and then rubbing t...

Re: HELP on burrfish

Quick question! How many day should I expect my fish not to accept food? In other words, after what day does it stop being a "getting used to a new environment issue"? I am currently treating with prazipro. I have tried feeding fresh (human food) muscles and Shrimp. Raw of course. I've als...

Re: HELP on burrfish

Thanks for the support!

Yes I assumed he would not eat at first. I decided to just start treating for parasites right off the bat since he seems to be in a fair condition.

Re: HELP on burrfish

QUICK UPDATE I finally got a hold of the Burrfish. It currently is in the 20 gallon QT tank. As expected, it isn't taking to anything I offer it. But it has only been in the QT for maybe an hour so far. Its belly is sunken in. I'm worried but the burrfish isn't nearly as bad as the ones I normally s...

Re: Young GSP's in full marine?

Well it is not a GSP but I've had my Ceylon puffer in full marine since it was under an inch long (or barely and inch). It is doing well and is currently over 4 inches long. I posted a thread a while back detailing my 55 gallon build. It has some pics of the very small ceylon in full marine water. E...

Re: HELP on burrfish

Sorry for not posting in a while. The vendor I am going through is having difficulty obtaining the fish. On the other hand, I am currently fully stocked on all things needed to get through the QT process. So I guess it's a good thing. I've also moved the rocks around to accommodate for the burrfish....

Re: HELP on burrfish

Well, I've read that another challenge is getting them to eat. I figure that'd I'd treat the tank so that the meds would start working before I manage to get him/her to eat. I already have a big selection of food in store in attempts to ween. My question about temperament in my previous post is cons...

Re: HELP on burrfish

I considered that. But having him in the QT would give me some time to make the moves for my current fish. And I would save a lot of meds. Do you think these advantages are worth keeping him in a 20 gallon? Also, what is the temperament like for this fish? I've read that they are a little more shy c...

Re: HELP on burrfish

So checking the forums again, I found the post http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=9461&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a After further inspection, it seems to me that the QT time was a lot longer :-\ Should i follow the timeline in this thread? If people think it is adv...

Re: HELP on burrfish

Thank you for the quick response :) and thank you for the compliment! I did figure that my tanks rock work would need re thinking. I will for sure be moving the rocks in order to make more open water. As for treatment, I will also take your advice and soak food. Regarding the time it would take to q...

HELP on burrfish

Ok folks. I was wondering if someone on the Puffer Forums could help me with a Burrfish. After doing a fair amount of reading, I've come to realize that trying to keep one will be an uphill battle for quite a while. I'm looking for tips on the process of de-worming and acclimating my Burrfish for ma...

Re: New member and new tank!

Ok so finally cycled my tank properly and have everything in order. Water parameter are excellent and my puffer seems to love his new home. Equipment I have running: AC 110 Fuge AquaC Remora Pro Hydor nano x2 Light (one blue bulb, one white bulb. both on in the pics. bought from a guy on craigslist ...

Re: New member and new tank!

Ok so the 425 Hydor would be better?

Ahh I looked up the worm and now I'm paranoid. How would I remove such a worm. What are the odds of them being in LR bought from a LFS?
