Re: GSP?

Not sure if you missed this in the above post, but Figure 8 puffers are low end brackish 1.003 - 1.005 SG, and actually they mostly live in alkaline freshwater in the wild. This fish is not genetically designed to live in full marine.

Re: 29 gallons of DP goodness!

6500K is just the color, but apparently that doesn't matter, here is a good read:

Re: 29 gallons of DP goodness!

Instead of foil, which wrinkles and diffuses, you can paint this inside a white gloss, or cut and fit 2 baking pans inside.

Re: 29 gallons of DP goodness!

I like pool filter sand too, and Black Diamond for dark.
If you want to support plant growth, keep your bulbs >5000K, anything below doesn't work well, and tends to make the water look like urine.

Re: Cat Food

+1 to subtle differences making an impact on individuals. I have several animals all on different brands/formulas because of individual sensitivities. It's kind of inconvenient, but it's not something they can help. They are our dependents, we do our best accommodate all their individual needs.

Re: size of GSP

You may see growth after you move him, always best to upgrade ASAP as opposed to waiting for growth that will likely be much better in a larger tank.

Re: 29 gallons of DP goodness!

Those are great bulbs. You may not find them to be yellow, all our eyes perceive colors slightly differently, I find those 6500K a crisp non-yellow white light. Getting an actinic, which is a blue bulb, is going to be a personal color preference. I only have them on as supplementary lights on marine...

Re: Cat Food

I am aware that many foods are baked in the same building, but each company has a recipe that the producer has to follow explicitly. This has become strict since a certain producer years ago was substituting ingredients without the companies knowledge or consent. That doesn't make all of the foods t...

Re: Cat Food

There are also several companies making grain free food. Wellness, Instinct, Blue Buffalo, Before Grain, Orijen, Wysong, Evo just to name a few. It's ok to have a preference in a food brand, but as you have said, it's your opinion. Taste of the Wild is a great choice, but it's not the only grain fre...

Re: Snoopy's tank

Your tank looks lovely, and so do your puffers, but as started above, you're over stocked with just the 2 Fugure 8's.
As far as plants, you could try a planted tank forum, they could help you on a brackish plant set up. There are only a few members here with planted brackish tanks.

Everything else is over-processed garbage in a bag.
This latter blanket statement just isn't true; there are many companies out there that are producing very high quality natural, holistic, organic, filler-free cat food.

Re: DP acting strange

Not sure on that medication, but you will have to treat all the puffers now, they have been exposed, it's in the tank. You could still separate her for observation purposes, but treat all.

Re: DP acting strange

Sounds like it could be external parasites, by the way you describe her movements. She may have ich in her gills or something. Either way, something is off and you'll have to treat the entire tank. You could try heat and salt, it's safer than any store bought medicine I feel. Does she have labored b...
