Re: Brackish tank. Halimeda discoidea???

if you want to rise to 1.023 i see no problem to go on 1.025, a nice marine.
i had not good history with Halimedas & caulerpas below 1.024.

Check Mg, Ca & K from now.

Re: Starfish and shrimps and eels...oh my..

Probably (80%) if the Gsp has a decent volume, it will eats shrimp, then eat starfish (i´ve unfortunately seen that with a poor Protoreaster nodosus), then will bother the eel (if it is smaller).

Re: Plants

high lighting is a difficult issue, depending on your tank size you´ll need one of those tubes, then 2 6.500k and an actinic (blue one), 4 lamps are required. Ca & Mg hace to be added in order to avoid whitening (like in corals) by keeping ph & kh safe levels, your aquarium has to get reef c...

Re: Plants

Macroalgaes... love this ones! The easier ones are chaetomorphas, then caulerpas, then the rest. Lighting issues are like the high demand FW plants but they also need actinic light at night. About fertilizer, they need some basic nutrients (N, K, P, Co2, Fe) BUT Specially Ca & Mg, just like cora...

Re: Tank by night

In plantless tanks it cause some brown algae, but nothing that a good moss or a big amount of java fern cant solve.
