Re: Questions about 24G tank upgrade, and compatiblity.
For some experience, I've placed a baby guppy in a 29 gallon tank with excess java moss floating near the top. The guppy was barely the size of your pinky fingernail and was extremely quick & pretty safe in the moss. 24 hours later, despite the tank's height, guppy's size & speed, and the ex...

Re: Wood in tanks
None of my LFS clean the wood before selling. I'd leave it in a bucket of water for a couple days at the very least.

Re: Wood in tanks
The brown water is due to the wood leeching tannins. These will naturally lower your pH and make your fish a little more at home. Some hobbyists actually like the brown and natural look of the water. Some people bake or boil wood to treat it. Baking the wood will get rid of any pesticides or living ...

Calling all suvatti owners
Wondering what you arrowhead owners have in your tanks. Plants? Foreground? Floating? Caves? What Kind? I'm rescaping my puffer's tank since its only had a couple of old caves. He never used any of the caves that came from petsmart. I'm considering trying flower pots as a cave. What kind of caves do...

Re: Arrowhead or...
Thanks for the advice guys. Just another question, if sand gets stuck to his belly, will this do any harm?

Re: Arrowhead or...
There's only 20lbs in there and the sand is 3 inches deep in a majority of the tank. The sand is Estes Marine Sand. I was looking for a black sand but I didn't know if there was black pool filter sand. I plan on added more substrate to the tank though. Possibly black gravel or more black sand. The g...

Re: Arrowhead or...
There's sand in there, he's just sitting on the uneven end of the tank. I haven't added much to the tank so I don't think he's too comfortable yet. Which is weird because I haven't seen him bury once.

Re: Arrowhead or...
He settled down as soon as it got dark. I just went out and found nice tree roots that I was hoping to use. I have to see if they'll even survive boiling. They're very withered and look like they might just rot in the tank. I've read that oak does well in aquariums so I'm just gonna cross my fingers...

Re: Arrowhead or...
Well! I got myself an arrowhead. The whole tank is still under massive construction. I'm still debating on which driftwood/rocks/plants and whatnot. However... I'm a little worried about his behavior. On his belly theres a dark stripe. Is this just a marking or could it be worse? I know they're supp...

Thanks for the quick reply Dadof4. Both of those puffers sound awesome! I'm really torn between which one to get though. Do target species require the same kinds of setups as an arrowhead? Plants, caves, and whatnot?

Arrowhead or...
Hey guys, I've been preparing for a Congo puffer for awhile and when I went to the LFS they had arrowheads labeled as congos. So now its down to Arrowheads or... the other puffers they had. The brown spotted puffers were in pretty bad shape, but looked adorable nonetheless. The other puffer they had...

Re: FLUVAL 3 Unbelievable results
Will this filter run well one a 29 gallon? I'm looking for a canister filter to use along with my HOBs.
