Re: Salinity of brackish water over the year

I can understand that Boxermom. i dont like to think of "testing" my fish, but i was told they couldnt live with anything at all due to their temperament, and have found they are fine with bumble bee gobies, and a few "feeder" guppies as well. also they had no issues with our red...

Re: Salinity of brackish water over the year

I understand the problems with salinity fluctuation ( no more than 0.002 per week) and i dont mean to go to the extreme here. just some fluctuation following the tides of their home waters. i've read works you speak of, PP, and i understand what he's found, which is why our tanks are at 0.0045, but ...

Re: F8 with red clawed crabs

from my experience, we've had Stumpy, Rufus and Frank (all figure 8s) with 4 separate red claws, and 3 died from escaping, and the last one from old age (he was medium sized when we got him, and he lived another 1.5 years). the one that died from old age lost an eye early on (prolly form the GSP we ...

Re: Emergent advice for traumatized puffer!

not to criticize, but seems you're trying to take a picture to close to the tank, and your camera in focusing on the background. try backing up a bit and get the fish in focus, then crop out the area you want to show. if the file is too large to post i'd be happy to crop it and post it for you. he l...

Salinity of brackish water over the year

I'm starting this post mainly as a reminder to myself that our beloved brackish fish dont live in the same water conditions all year round, and i feel we should vary their waters salinity to match the seasons of where they are from... that being said, where exactly are they found/caught and brought ...

Myaj: it would great if you could take him for the year. im sure he'd be fine in a 20g, but if you would like to use the 29g we have now, you could take that too. we would even bring him to you, if you would prefer. the location we're moving to isnt our own, and i believe it has something to do with...

F8 Dilema

Some of you may recall our nematode infected fish. he is still doing great, has had no signs of any more spreading or sores, but theres a small problem now. we're moving to a new place, and there simply is not enough electricity to run this tank. its a very old house, with poor wiring and we had to ...

...thats, unpleasant. thanks for the info tho. is there a point where we will need to, you know, help him go? like are there some signs we should look for?

there was a couple of times he looked so bad that we wanted to.. but he pulled through, and has always kept eating.

ok, thx for your help ladies. he's seemed a bit loney since we've removed him for the other fish, but he does get more specialized treatment because of it. im guessing you dont recommend having any tank mates with him then? we had a knight goby with him for some company, they would hunt ghost shrimp...
