Re: Dragon Goby and F8's
With the filter canister, minus substrate volume, minus one hollow resin decoration, I'd say I'm getting about 26 gallons of water volume. So about 100 liters of actual water in the tank. The standard dimensions I found for a 90 liter tank states it's 60 centimeters long (23.6220472 inches) where as...

Re: Dragon Goby and F8's
I know you are probably getting very tired of answering my questions, but I only have one left. Is a 29 gallon (30x12x18) adequate for two Figure 8 Puffers? No tankmates other than snails and shrimp to be restocked a few times a week.

Re: Dragon Goby and F8's
Per RTR's advice a 29 isn't big enough for 2 F8s and 2 Knights, so for a 20 gallon... I'll leave RTR to answer that. I'm sure he'll be back. So RTR, would 2 F8's and a 4 BBGs be overstocked as well? How do bottom dwellers (knights) and mid-upper level fish (F8s don't lurk on the bottom, do they?) ov...

Re: Dragon Goby and F8's
Is it a overcrowding issue or a water quality issue? If it's overcrowding then I won't do it, but if it's purely water quality I think I can maintain relatively good WQ with weekly changes and perhaps using an old 10 gallon to setup an algae scrubber/sump.

Re: Marmorkrebs as feeders?
Did you feed them live or frozen? And as for breeding, I've seen some setups of people breeding them for bait and they literally used large plastic tubs with a large sponge filter. Crude, but I think it'd be effective. 80% or even 100% waterchanges shouldn't be a problem for them, I hear they're har...

Marmorkrebs as feeders?
I recently learned of the marbled crayfish, the one that literally clones itself at a ridiculously fast rate. I was wondering if it would be practical to setup a reasonably sized tank/tub with one or more marmorkrebs and then use the offspring as feeders for a puffer, such as a Figure 8. Also, at wh...

Re: Dragon Goby and F8's
Okay then, 2 F8's, 2 Knight Gobies. That'll be it for the tank then. And as for the mollies not being good for them or not, I'd never purposely let any of my fish eat another (unless I were to get a true piscivore). As for the puffers, don't worry. I already have a dozen small ramshorn snails in a 1...

Re: Dragon Goby and F8's
If you mount a cut approximately in half lengthwise PVC pipe, with 45-degree angles at each end, the DG will stay visible 24/7 provided that the face of the tank does not get sun. Th cut was closer to 2/3 and i/3 to give the fish more room. It does work. I think that I used 2" ID PVC and the 4...

Re: whats the worst thing a lfs has told you?
About the worst has simply been recommending fish that are too large for the tank I say they're going into. Such as a Dragon Goby for a 29 (I should've known better; I tried google on my phone but I didn't have signal). It was an impulse buy... Given, that same employee also reminded me that they ca...

Re: F8 biting rocks?
I wouldn't worry about chipped teeth, since their teeth are constantly growing it would only be a temporary problem?

Re: Dragon Goby and F8's
I think my original plan of 2 F8's and 5 BBGs will work great. I'm going to call my LFS sometime after Thursday to see if they got the two F8s in stock and I'll ask them if they'll take the Dragon Goby back. I'm sure they'll take 'im back, just not sure if I'll get any cash back or possibly an excha...

Re: Dragon Goby and F8's
I think I may return him back to the LFS when I go to pick up my F8's. After having him for a day now I honestly can't say he does a whole lot for the tank (he dug a few burrows and chills out behind his driftwood when the lights are on). I'm also afraid of the fin nipping that privacy will occur wi...

Dragon Goby and F8's
I've recently converted my 29 gallon aquarium over to brackish (or rather I'm still raising salinity, up to ~1.004, aiming for ~1.006) and today I put my first fish in, a dragon goby that the LFS convinced me was okay for a 29 gallon, but nothing smaller. I was skeptical then, though I found a petfi...

Google and ye shall know...
Well, that and I found a few links from the WWM sites (AquariaCentral and MonsterFishKeepers).
