Re: Skimmer rigging
If youre in the BG area you should stop by FB. They do have a pretty nice setup but like i said, you kinda have to haggle a little. They did have a really nice 360 degree round tank, like 600g, that rotated but the rotating motor went out and they broke it down.

Re: Skimmer rigging
I've only ever seen 1 Lionfish at Fishey Business ever and i believe it was listed for $65. The coral and inverts get expensive. I usually buy just frags as i can't afford like, $85 for a toadstool leather or $115 for a clam. Their regular hermits cost 2.99 each, snails the same and emerald crabs ar...

Re: Skimmer rigging
I hear The Fish Doctor in OB is good but haven't been there personally. Fishey Business here in BG is good but a little pricey since they control the market. They get shipments on Thursday and Friday if you're going to make a trip down sometime.

Re: Cleaning Live Rock
Once you go full marine there's a period deemed "the uglies". This is where your tank is stabilizing. You'll go through many different types of algaes that'll typically just go away on their own. Grey/brown is just diatoms and they'll burn themselves out after a while. They look unsightly ...

Re: Cleaning Live Rock
Depending on the type of algae there are different options that i've had success with. Hair algae - Pull it by hand if it's thick only during a waterchange so you can syphon it out. if it's pretty thin you could add large turbo snails, emerald crabs or mexican red hermit crabs (i've had luck with) I...

Re-Aquascaping tomorrow
Tomorrow i'll be re-aquascaping my 30g reef. I've been on a winning battle against hair algae but i want the main source of the problem gone which i believe is a small "nook" in between 2 rocks that's gathering detritus. The main worry i have is, how long can live rock be out of the water ...

Re: Skimmer rigging
Failed attempt. Skimmer overflows. Need to make the output hole a few inches lower.
