Re: Figure 8s with Ick
Leave the puffers in their main tank. The mollies have it too, even if it doesn't show. Read the ich article linked to above. Keep doing large WC every other day, while cleaning the substrate & raise the temp. What SG is your tank at? I have Aragonite sand as my substrate which I've been wave s...

Re: Figure 8s with Ick
Are the F-8s in FW? Nope, 100% brackish...but I cant reallly say 100% though since brackish isnt ever 100% lol. Back to being serious, I was also confused about how the ick/ich appear since the water does contain marine salt. I tested my water paramas and they were isanely out of line, which was pr...

Figure 8s with Ick
Heys need some help, I went camping for a week and when i came home i saw that my F8s contracted ick. I believe it might have been caused the large peice of shrimp I put into their tank for them before I left for the week. I heard quick cure is very harmful to puffers so I raised the temp to 82 and ...

Re: From store tank to home tank
Alright guys, so I visited my LFS to check up on my juvenile Ceylon. While I was there I was checking out the other puffers they had in stock which included: F8s, GSPs, Congo puffers, Dwarf pea puffers, 6" mbu, six 4" juvenile fahakas, a few fugu puffers and a six" dog face. I was ask...

Re: From store tank to home tank
But ceylons and F8s are not compatible and can't be in the same tank together... lol, yes I know. I was listing what I had in my 50gallon bowfront, my Ceylon will have a 30gallon to it's self when I bring it home. I was asking how would accimilate the Ceylon properly into the 30gallon brackish tank...

Re: From store tank to home tank
Congrats on finding a Ceylon! What SG is your BW tank at? What inhabitants are in there now? How big is the puffer & how big is that tank? Thanks, My SG is about 1.006 in my 50gallon bowfront as of yesterday. I currently have two F8s in the 50gal with a few mollies and BB gobies. My F8s are 1.5...

From store tank to home tank
Hey guys I put a hold on what appears to be a Ceylon puffer, lable Figure 8. I asked the store owner and they said they are kept it in a freshwater tank since day 1 when it arrived. My question is: How do I properly accimilate the Ceylon puffer that was kept in freshwater to my full brackish tank? A...

Re: F8 with colbalt coloured pupils?
Yes, now that I have reviewed the pictures. The one I put a hold on looks like the Ceylon puffers owned by Cindy and vurphy.Pufferpunk wrote:Look at our Pufferpedia for the T fluviatilis, just to be sure it isn't the Ceylon puffer. They very closely resemble the T biocellatus (F8).

F8 with colbalt coloured pupils?
Hey guys I recently moved my F8 into a 50gal bowfront and thought he looked a bit lonely. I went to my LFS today and skimmed through the puffer section seeign that only one puffer was left. The puffer looked like a F8 but with more vivid and colourful patterning. I put a hold on it right away since ...

Re: What type of pellest do you feed your puffer?
Puffers and pellets are not a good mix INHO & IME. Pellets are firm to hard, so puffers grind them with their pharyngeal teeth and blow the powder out their gills. Result: Polluted water from wasted food and no nutrition for the puffer. It is also called "shooting yourself in the foot"...

Re: Show your bettas, if have any
Thanks guys for sharing your pics, I was interested to see how many other people keep bettas. Right now I'm searching for black plakat but from what I heard they are extremely rare to see. Last time I saw one was about 6 years ago.

LOL, yes they are. Its the only time I can get my fish to stay still to get a decent picture.LilGreenPuffer wrote:Those look like breeder boxes, floating boxes that are usually used for livebearers. They're popular for putting fish into for pictures.
