welcome to the forum
Also you can use a vacuum thing or a hose to suck out any left over food (or if its on the surface, use a fish net to scoop it out?)

Algae or Fungus?
Theres a white, fuzzy cotton like thing covered one of my plants... when looking closer, it looks like translucent tufts of cotton. Kinda like when you pick a cotton ball apart, and you can *almost* see the hairs... I did have the beginnings of some brown hairy algae, but I stopped turning on the li...

Is the test kit expired?
Mine was 0.5ppm for yonks... same yellowy colour all the time, then I realized that the test was expired and got a new one which actually changed colours lol

Re: Fat puffer...
My Balki will not eat anything with visible eyes. In fact, I had to remove some base rock that has a honey comb design to it because he's terrified of them. I think he thinks all the holes are eyes. It sucks because I bought several pieces thinking he would love them. lol i've said this before but,...

Re: GSP in full marine, tankmates?
i've seen them being housed with a nemo, which was pretty cute
90 Gallon could easily house tankmates when he's at a young age. I would add the tankmates first, then the GSP, so he won't see them as food?

Re: snails?
Ramshorns are good, could probably find them free on an aquarium-forum but they're usually pretty cheap. I'd get around 5-10 of them, put them in a 5 gallon tank (or pretty much any size, as long as the water is good/nicely aerated) Also had some luck feeding them flake food to get them to 'mate' lo...

GSP... belly decay?
1) pH 7, freshwater, 'new tank' uncycled 2) 15 gallon on its own 3) - 4) - 5) Uncycled Recently 'taken over' a green spotted puffer, previous owner kept it in a large chinese-styled gold fish bowl (10 gallon?) No filter or water changes. Puffer was sitting on bottom of tank (which was hideously dirt...

Will discus eat shrimp?
I think I am pretty much set on neon tetras and ghost/tiger shrimp as my first tank inhabitants... don't want to risk discus dying on me on the first go >_<!

Re: GSP SICK !
I believe changes in salinity could cause a cycle? This could be adding stress to the fishies. In my experience, it wasn't the salinity change that stressed the GSP's out as much as the water quality... (they mustve been through marine/freshwater numerous times, but the ammonia/nitrites were minimum...

aww!
Me too I'll be gone next year for college... family doesn't have a problem with a big tank unless its full of fish... as opposed to 1 or 2 GSP's lol....
In fact, telling anyone that 1 gsp needs at least 30 gallons gives me odd looks...
