Re: List of freshwater fishes to avoid for beginners
No one mentioned Knife fish... those things get pretty large- and will eat other fish. Any bichir other than a senegal. Tigrinus Catfish- Not only do they get to be about 24+"- they are EXTREMELY sensitive to water parameters, stress really easily, and they can die just like that. Not to mentio...

Re: feeding a fahaka
The ultimate question is how do you know when he's had enough for a meal?
The other day I fed my Fahaka (14") 2 pieces of large market shrimp, and he still wanted more...

Re: What's your puffer's name?
I'm pretty sure my Fahaka's name is going to be set at Giles.
Fiance wanted to name him Duff- I wanted to name him Cpt.Bark-Bark.
Neither of us agreed.

Re: Getting my puffer to eat "dead" food
I bought some Cherry stone clams, cracked it open, and boy did he love it!
I don't think I am going to have an issue with him eating.. I just think the previous owner was too lazy to find him better things to feed.
I got a vid of it too!

Re: New Puffer Keeper! :)
He is 14"+ inches, and I have a flower pot he could fit into, but hubby stated this morning he is going to make something for him so he can be nice and cozy. The lids for this tank were made by us... we got the tank, but it didn't have any lids, and its an odd dimension tank, so no practical gl...

Re: New Puffer Keeper! :)
[welcome] It's great you had a large cycled tank ready for that guy! Do you have a cave for him? We need more fish vets in this world. :) No, I currently do not have a cave for him, but I am looking for something in which to use. He's large, so my typical idea of flowerpots isn't gonna work this ti...

Getting my puffer to eat "dead" food
I just got a puffer from someone- butttt, he says he can only get the puffer to eat live food. He fed it crays, snails... and feeder gf. :( I do NOT want to feed it feeders... EVER! None of my fish will ever get feeders. I can't get crays in my area (so I'm ordering some self cloning) and no one has...

New Puffer Keeper! :)
I am a new Puffer keeper as of yesterday. I was able to find a Fahaka Puffer on Craigslist yesterday, and I drove 2 hours to pick him up. He's about 14", and he's already settled in and very personable. I'm not new to fish however; I am currently in school to be a vet where I am specializing in...
