Re: puffers with ich

the tank I want to convert is an established tank that has been running for over a year with freshwater. I'm under the impression if I just change the water to .007 I'll kill all the healthy bacteria already present in the tank? Or did you mean just change the salt content then add filter media from...

puffers with ich

I have a couple of friends that work at a very good LFS. They got a shipment of fish in and almost all of them had ich (never happened before). The poor GSP and figure 8s were probably the worse of all, they were covered in huge white spots. They treated the entire shipment and everyone except the p...

possible cause for sure, I removed it just in case. I forgot to add that the filtration is a fluval 205.
I guess I'll just watch and wait to see how he does, and watch the water params better

Re: GSP with black streaks on the sides of its belly

I moved your thread here, so you could offer us all the info we need to make a guess as to how your puffers are doing. Thanks for posting all that. You really need to keep your nitrate <20. I'm not really sure there is concern with those black marks but that's enough right there to cause stress to ...

Re: GSP with black streaks on the sides of its belly

I didn't post all the hospitial info as I posted this in a different place and it was move here which is fine just wasn't sure if it should have been here or in Brackish water puffers. The tank these two are in is a 47 gallon hex, it's an old tank and is short and fat. The puffs are the only two cri...

GSP with black streaks on the sides of its belly

I have two GSP in a tank together, one is about 4 inches and the other is about an inch and half. The smaller one gets these weird looking black streaks on its belly. They appear on and off, they start on either side down by the tail and follow the line of it's body towards it's head. They vary in l...

Re: Ceylon puffers

They are so dang cute and personable, I tried puffers years ago and they all died :{ So stayed with the cichlidds, dwarf shrimp and stuff like that. Just kept finding them so cute and fun to watch. Have some Blue Jack Dempseys and they are doing fine. Figured if I could keep picky cichlids they way ...

Re: Ceylon puffers

just makes me angry as I did research them, and asked people who should have had the right information.
So I guess I need to move some fish around to give them more room.

Thanks for all your help

Re: Ceylon puffers

You don't have a tank large enough for 2 adult GSPs. I would think a corner tank would have a smaller footprint than a standard, long tank. yeah I'm getting that, the information I had been following is not the same as what I'm getting here. I'm sure as the people here actually have these guys that...

Re: Ceylon puffers

Okay thanks, How big would you wait for the GSP to go full marine with? Can they be in with others saltwater puffers? Sorry for all the questions, Reading the information on this site I'm finding a most of the things I thought were correct certainly are not. As for tanks size: I have a 47, a corner ...

Ceylon puffers

Was wondering if anyone had mixed figure 8s, green spotted and ceylon puffers? If yes how did it work out, in terms of the health of the fish If not a good idea why not? I have a (2.5") green spotted puffer, a small (.75") green spotted puffer and a small (.75") figure eight puffer, t...

I think I'll skip the mess and wait for the roads to be plowed.

Thanks for the info
