Black beard algae in non-planted tank
Hi Guys, it's a long time since I've been around here! Just thought I'd pop back to ask about my baileyi tank. I've always (the last few years) had a black beard algae problem in the 3 different tanks this fish has been in, and nothing I've done has prevented it. The rocks and wood - but not the gra...

Re: puffer bite
I got a nasty bite from my baileyi a couple of years ago, right under my finger nail. I was down the doctors with my finger in the air for 3 hours waiting for the bleeding to stop, while they were on the phone to the dept. of toxins (thinking they had poisonous bites!). They couldn't stitch my finge...

Are DP's territorial?
I've kept Dwarfs several times now, but recently picked up 4 for a low tech plant tank (after convincing a friend to try some!) Before, I've never noticed them to claim a patch or anything - they just buzzed around the whole tank. This time however, one has barely left one particular moss-covered br...

Re: Unusual Doctors Visit
Yeah it may be just that he was hungry as he hadn't eaten this week, and barely touched his fish last week. Took 5 this morning though and is now sitting in his little crevice. Tweesers it is from now on though.

Unusual Doctors Visit
Just had a nice trip to the doctors for an unusual reason. I was cleaning my fish tank which houses Esau my baileyi puffer, and he lunged at me. I've had him 2.5 years now and he's never gone for me. He usually just follows my hand round the tank. But anyway he missed me and I pushed him away. I car...

Re: baileyi breathing heavy
Mine has a light belly, but does breathe heavily when out swimming. When he goes back and lies down his breathing slows again. I haven't ever seen mine with a dark belly though :S

Baileyi nutrition
After 2 years of owning Esau the baileyi he is still only eating mussels, refusing everything else. Just bought him a load of small frozen fish and he hasnt even sniffed them. Just blows sand at them when I put them near him. I've tried leaving them in there with him, but they just go down the filte...

Re: nefastus tooth problems
Which fin do you count? Is it the dorsal? If so, how many should the nefastus have? I reckon if I use the original size image I could count.
Cheers guys,
Tom

Re: nefastus tooth problems
Cheers for the tips Hilly. Pufferpunk, I managed with my old GSP after reading your article, but once I'd knocked one of these out I got it in the net and thought "how the hell am I supposed to open it's mouth wide enough without hurting it??" :? I will try to trim again and will feed them...

nefastus tooth problems
I've got a couple of A. nefastus, and they don't take any interest in shelled foods like small snails etc. I've been feeding them prawns, bloodworms, a little bit of frozen fish and chopped cockles as they eat that. As you might imagine, they need their teeth trimming because they're not taking the ...

Marks on my baileyi
Hi, just wondered if you would be able to take a look at some I just got home and looked at my puffer and he's got some white marks on him. There's 3 total and theyre about 3-4mm diamater. It's not fungus, the marks are flat to the skin. I've attached some pics but they're not the best as the tank l...
