Re: Green Spotted Puffer Destroying Ramshorn Snails!

Welcome to the site. Your little Puffer looks very happy and much healthier than most I have seen that were purchased from WalMart. Like the others have said, you can start them out in freshwater but he will do better if moved to brackish water then to full marine later. Saltwater is IMHO much easie...

Re: HELP..... Injury and Puffer ID help....

thank you all for your advice and help.... .... but sorry to have to come here and report that this puffer passed away about an hour ago. After the water change this morning he seemed to really perk up, his belly turned almost completely white but within an hour or so he settled back on the bottom o...

Re: HELP..... Injury and Puffer ID help....

Thank you PufferPunk... I was looking for that but couldn't find it. Water is still mixing.... (and I did forget the 1's in my earlier numbers) I did split the water so that I wouldn't waste the salt and added more to the larger portion so that I will just change water in both the SW and the BW tank...

Re: Fantail or Ryukin Goldfish?

When I said "low quality" I meant that as small fish they were not showing the signs of being "Show Quality" fish. That is not to say that with the right food and care that they won't grow up into drop dead gorgeous fish though! At one time I got a nicely shaped Ryukin from Walma...

Re: HELP..... Injury and Puffer ID help....

That is right.... .002 to preserve the bacteria. So I will only do little less than 1/4 tank water change.... No, I will go dump 1/2 the water and refill so that I can still give him a 1/2 tank clean water. I think the larger water change will be better for him. Right clean water is the best thing f...

Re: Quick! First reactions!!

Where do you think he hitch hiked in from? I personally think he is cute and would keep him, at least for awhile. What kind of damage do you think he could do though... do you have corals? His somewhat fuzzy appearance would make me think he may be a type to damage corals.... I could be TOTALLY wron...

Re: HELP..... Injury and Puffer ID help....

I do have a Hydrometer. I currently have water mixing, should be a 0.010 so when I do a 1/2 tank water change it will be 0.005..... Or is that too strong? It has been so long since I increased my other GSP's tank to full saltwater I can't remember if the salt increase is suppose to be .005 or .002.....

Re: Walmart

A one gallon tank is way to small....he will need a minimum of 30 gallons preferrably more. Save yourself the money and hassle and just get him the biggest tank you can for him. As far as bacteria in the foodstuffs for him....if you freeze it then thaw it in tank water (or preferrably vitamin water)...

Thank you Corvus for the references and information.... but I think his eyes are much redder in person than they appear in these pictures. I will admit I am not the best photographer when it comes to my fihses..... Please don't get me wrong.... I am not disagreeing with you, just had never seen a GS...
