Most puffs aside from lurkers are pretty active, even some lurking species zip around the tank. The more 'active' the decore in the tank is the more active the puff. If the tank is boring the puffs get bored and don't explore as much. I end up changing decor around in my 33 planted because my irrubs...

Parasites usually latch onto the fish and are pretty visible unless internal. Bacterial infections will cause wasteing of flesh and fins.
