Re: Please Help My GSP Has an inflamed gill!
That's where I was heading was Gill Flukes. Do you have any marine salt added to the tank yet? SG? If it is gill flukes you can treat them by bringing up your SG slowly to brackish conditions, at least above 1.010 area. Do this slowly, not more than .002 per week and once you get to the 1.006 area ...

Re: Please Help My GSP Has an inflamed gill!
sorry no picture yet.. Should I treat for gill flukes? Is it contagious to other fish? What meds should I use, also is it safe for the ghost shrimp I have with him? Please let me know thanks! I think the second air stone is working as he's no longer at the surface, but his stress lines are back :( W...

Re: Please Help My GSP Has an inflamed gill!
did you take out your carbon media? If not the melafix probably did not get a chance to do its job. Those nitrates are a little high for a sick puffer. Yeah I took out my carbon media before I put in the melafix. But so far I haven't seen any improvement other than that the stress lines are usually...

Re: Please Help My GSP Has an inflamed gill!
Hi every one i'm back, but my puffers gill is still inflamed :( His belly is white and his stress lines are usually gone but come and go for a short time, which is an improvement b/c he was keeping dark stress lines all the time b4. The water condition has improved, but he still isn't back to his us...

Re: Please Help My GSP Has an inflamed gill!
With the ammonia at 2, I'd do 80% WC 2x/day, until it remains at 0. It may only take a couple of days, but you need to check nitrite too. Add Melafix for the inflamed gill & an air stone to help with O2 exchange. As far as feeding--be sure you defrost & rinse the worms & drain in a brin...

Re: Please Help My GSP Has an inflamed gill!
super clean water... possibly some Epsom Salts. That being said, you'd have to understand the root cause of the inflammation in order to treat it properly. "Possibly" the key word there. Melafix / Pimafix may or may not help. When puffers eat, the blow stuff out of the gills. This debris ...

Re: Please Help My GSP Has an inflamed gill!
did you also use the filter and filter media from the 10 gal? just the water and decorations would not be enough to carry over the benificial bacteria thats turns ammonia to nitrite and the to nitrate. when I up a tank, the old filter, media and all goes into the new one as well. it may not be enou...

Re: Please Help My GSP Has an inflamed gill!
1. Ammonia 2.0 :( Nitrite 0 Nitrates 30 :( ph 7.5-8.0 (I'm doing a water change right now, I found a pieace of rotting food in his tank, could that have raised the ammonia and nitrates?) 2. 20gal tank all to himself 3. three days ago did a 50% water change with Amquel plus 4. He was in a 10 gal but ...

Please Help My GSP Has an inflamed gill!
Hi, today I realized that my green spotted puffer fish has an inflamed or swollen gill on one of his sides. These last two days I noticed that he would hold his fin, by the now inflamed gill, close to his body for a while and then would use it again like normal. But I didn't worry too much about it ...

Re: Need Green Spotted Puffer info
Ok I have him in a 20 gal tank now, but his stress lines have not gone away. Do puffers get stressed when they have a lould filter? Because I bought the 20 gal used with the filter and it's a bit lould. Those are stress lines. Can't know if you have bad water quality unless you test for it. Get a li...

Re: Need Green Spotted Puffer info
I'm pretty sure the tank is cycled because I used water from my sisters tank and her used filter media when I set up the tank. I'm going to try to get a 20 gal tank tomorrow. I have noticed that my little puffer has black line's on both of his sides, which i'm guessing is bad? The lines do get light...

Hi I need some help, I have a green spotted puffer fish that I got from walmart.
