My Red Tailed Red Eyes!!!

Post by RLHirth »

A little background first! i have always loved puffers but never ventured into them. i have always had fish and loved the unusual! (i also have a hairless male chinese crested Onyx and a Male Florida softshell Phent) and i somehow always had dwarf frogs in my tanks and i could never rehome these little guys, well 3 months ago my last female Dwarf frog passed, so i decided it was time for the Puffers to make there appearence!

I was planning on upgrading my tank anyways!!! but when i got my Red tails i only had a 14 gallon!! i got a male and female... realized very fast that the 14 gallon was not good... so for my birthday my boyfriend bought me a 29 gallon bowfront and stand, i got a 3 stage filter so i could use all my only filter media so instant cycle! and the new advanture began...

I have now had them for 3 months and im loving it!!! they each have totally different personalities!!! so on with the pictures!!!!

First there old cramped tank!!!

Welcome to the forum, nice tank,
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Very nice! I love irrubescos and they have a great tank! What lucky fish :)
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Thank you flutter! I wanted to the best environment I could and make sure they were comfortable! Other than yesterday they have not stopped exploring! Yesterday they ate way too much and were both sulking! I feed them there first time on live brine shrimp ( not a lot of places around here will sell "small portions" of brine shrimp! But I was able to get some and after that some how they caught a ghost shrimp that has been in there tank forever! I got really worried for a bit because they were so round and just not very active! Well there up and about this morning! And they got the fast day moved from Saturday to today!

Welcome! That's a very nice tank and you have some lovely plants. Your puffers are super adorable, too.

I want to suggest that you QT (quarantine) all live food before feeding it to your puffers so you do not pass any nasties on to them.
