Over-interpretation
Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Give a fish a man, and he'll eat for weeks.

Yep.
Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Give a fish a man, and he'll eat for weeks.

Re: Puffers showing compassion?
Animals do understand their environment, they know exactly what happens but they see it with their very particular & incomprehensible way, not in the way of we perceive...
Let there be light, and lit up the days... Let there be puffers, and they swam around the world...

Re: Puffers showing compassion?
I think it is possible that animals do. Even puffers. This reminds me of a video I remember seeing a while back of a dog rescuing another dog after it was hit by a car. It would watch for traffic as it dragged the injured dog off the road.
WARNING: Puffers are mischievous little blimps with enchanting powers. You may not be content with having just one.

Re: Puffers showing compassion?
Humans observe the actions of other humans and quite frequently grossly misinterpret those actions, based on their own feeling and desires. How infinitely more difficult it is to interpret the actions of other animal species in any meaningful way.
