Figure 8 and Clams on a half shell
Ok let me start by saying I have been the proud parent of 2 African Red Snakeheads that ate 2 dozen feeder goldfish every other day between the 2 of them. Thay used to eat them in less then 2 Minutes!!!! I have had snowflake Morays, purple spotted groupers, and many many other interesting carnivores. NEVER EVER EVER have I enjoyed one of my pets eating as much as my new F8 just ate some clam!!!!! That was by FAR the coolest thing!!! He is still very young and in freshwater barely topping an inch. I honestly could not tell where his head ended and the clam began I only let him go at it for about 20 seconds because his belly was already rounded. I want to keep his dentistry perfect but how can I continue to feed him these clams as they are way too big for just him. These are from hikari and arent that big at all....maybe the size of a quarter if that but I dont want to keep taking them out of the tank and re freezing them because I am afraid they will lose their nutritional value. I guess I could try to break them up with a cleaver or something but I want him to scrape his teeth on the shell. Just wondering what other people do. Thanks for reading !!!!!

Very interesting.
I just did a little looking and here's what I found.

I might see if my lfs can order some for me and try them out.

Yep thats them in the green package. He LOVED them. At my LFS the one pack was $3.99. They have an entire freezer full of frozen food that I believe was mostly Hikari brand.

Try mussels, they're way smaller.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

What kind of mussels? I bought a bag of fresh ones once from the grocery and they were huge.Pufferpunk wrote:Try mussels, they're way smaller.

The lil black ones are pretty small. Not much meat in them.
