Re: What did you do with your tank today
Gonna be doing waterchanges today, reattaching plants to rocks and general tidying up, big maintenance days are easy now my tank quantity is reduced, no challenges really. Also I am gonna tinker with an old eheim that I want to add to the main tank, not sure what to fill it with tho as I want to try something new and exciting, any ideas? Maybe rock?
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Re: What did you do with your tank today
I finally got sick of all the noise that my bak pak was making. Went and asked the guy I get all my aquarium stuff from if he knew of anything I could do.
He had a really ingenious way of solving the issue.
what we did was cap off the air intake for the accela pump and instead use a dedicated air pump, with a hose going through a hole we drilled in the center divide in the skimmer down into the bubbly side with a wood air stone.
literally a billion times less noisy. The only sound coming from my tank now is gentle waterfall sound from my return.
As far as performance goes, I guess we will have to see how it does. The lfs owner that helped me do it did the same to his bak pak and he says it worked great.

My bak pak is noisy too. Sometimes I just unplug the thing, but for the most part I've grown used to it.

Re: What did you do with your tank today
Currently cleaning out the tank and also removing the current 3d background since my GSP has ended his life by jumping out and landing somewhere where I couldnt see him.
Considering going out tomorrow to get
New occupients for the 30g will either be a figure8 or a bundle of dwarf puffers.

Re: What did you do with your tank today
Had another family discussion about my puffer tanks. They all want ONE tank in the house that is community tank (FW or SW). No way am I going to get rid of my two puffer friends. I already got rid of my marble crayfish tank for them
Kind regards,
Terrance

Re: What did you do with your tank today
Bought 3 square feet of slate from depot that were chipped or broken for $1.78 . Also bought a 50lb bag of playsand. Rinsed playsand in 5 gallon bucket in my tub, Rinsed again. Rinsed again. Rinsed again. Thought it was good enough. Put 3/4 into my new 29 gallon. Filled it about 80% with water. Realized dresser (or possibly floor) was soo NOT level then got really mad and broke it all down. Went to home depot again, Bought 4 2x4x8's to build frame of my new DIY stand. Now looking at George Carlin quotes to make me feel better and watch my 10g with my f8 (marlin).

Did both my water changes and cleaned the glass a little. Watched my snails. (Its amazing how fast they grow and breed)
So many water changes, so little time.

Re: What did you do with your tank today
Having a beer with my puffers for my birthday. Also my girlfriend got me a baby porkypuff for my birthday to my surprise. She saw a pic of one online and thought it was the cutest thing ever with their big blue eyes and baby face. This is gonna be interesting.

Re: What did you do with your tank today
Did a waterchange and currently on my way back home with ramhorns and mts (not for consumption ) and about 15-20 anubias in various sizes.
I think I actually had to pay for the ramhorns, but atleast they are blue .
It turned out that the 15 or so pots I bought contained 2 plants each coming in at 30 plants .
One of the reasons I like buying new plants is because of snails. Already sighted the first few pond snails going through my tank. That should keep the soon to arrive puffer a good hunt.

Re: What did you do with your tank today
Bought a canister filter, a tank light, four aquatic plants, and some plant supplements for the new tank. Gave the plants a thorough washing, installed the canister filter, arranged the plants in the tank and also put up the tank light. The canister filter was awesomely quiet, the tank light looks good with the tank and the fishes seemed more relaxed with the extra canopy.
Was just told by RTR that one of the new plants is not an indigenous aquatic species. Will have to go back for the LFS for an exchange tomorrow. =)
