Post by Lumis22 »

Hey guy looking to get a puffer id please. My gf bought me this puffer as a surprise. Fish store told her it was a map puffer. I don't think so. Thanks

The short anwswer is Krill can lead to lock jaw in puffers.

You can feed him blood worms, mysis, raw shrimp, mussels, squid, crabs etc. It's best to give them a varied diet

The why? Too many documented cases of lockjaw associated with krill.

Mussels, clams, crabs, any hard shelled invert / mollusk. These can be purchased frozen and thawed. It will be trial and error to see what it ill tank and what it won't. Puffers can be VERY picky.

Lion fish mixed with puffers always ends up badly. Get them separated, and make sure you have a big enough tank for your G.F. puff with sufficient filtration.
5.5g: Pond snails
5.5g: Red Cherry Shrimp and Rams
10g: PZ the Pee Wee (DP), Ghost shrimp, Otos x3
36g: Luau the F8, Zebra nerites x8, sometimes a herd of ghost shrimp for food
60g: Perches the starry blenny, 1 watchman goby Snaps the l.c. hermit, 2 emerald crabs, 1 red crab, 2 turbos, 7 asteas, 2 nerites, 2 clown gobies and 2 firefish gobies (upgrading to a 90 gallon reef)

RIP Yoshi, you are dearly missed <3
