Tain't fresh, and tain't marine! Talk about brackish setups.

Luau's NEW Tank

Post by goldielocke76 »

So, we weren't able to upgrade Luau's tank as we would have liked too. With losing the walk in closet space, we had to downsize and I had to not get a whole new tank. But, I do have a stand, to where I can upgrade his tank and maybe just use the 20 as a refugium for the big tank.

When doing water changes on my tanks today, Denzil and I noticed that we can totally see the difference in Yoshi's growth: she's bigger, more healthier looking, and is super personable, than when we first got her. With Luau, his growth is more difficult to determine: he's long and lean, and he was about 1.25" when I got him from Pufftastic. I think he's now about 1.75" (can't measure accurately, because if anything other than your face gets close to the tank, he starts pacing immediately). He's still super personable as the day we got him (Pufftastic took excellent care of him), even more so now that he's out in the living room where he can see us all the time, he seems happy, loves to explore and catch the ghost shrimp that I put in there, and as handsome as can be. He's in a 20 gallon tank and has plenty to do. Do F8s vs GSP tend to grow slower? Do you think a bigger tank would help? Any suggestions? Not working with a ton of space, so as much as I would love to buy a 72gallon for Yoshi to put Luau in the 60, I just can't do it. Biggest I can do I think is somewhere along the lines of a 28 or 32 gallon bow or maybe just a regular 29 gallon tank. I just want to make sure that I am not doing anything that will stunt him in the long run and do what's right for him. Thanks for your input!

Ok cool, cause all my numbers are very rough guesses. Granted, both Yoshi and Luau are still very tiny for puffers, I just wanted to make sure that nothing else was going on. On the other hand, damn, I was hoping that everyone would chime in and say "upgrade" 'cause then I would have concrete evidence that Luau NEEDS a bigger tank and it's not me WANTING one LOL. I know he will need one eventually, and I totally plan on doing so. It's just the upgrades I reallly realllllly want, are not feasible in my itty bitty apartment haha.

I will say what I always say. If you have the space and money then upgrade, you can't go too big.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

LoL, I have a saying when itcomes to my pets, and its "go big or go home" meaning you do everything right the first time around if possible and get the best can afford. Trust me, if it were up to me I would have made room for a 72 gallon bow for Yoshi and got luau a 46 gallon bow front with an eheim or two. Buuut. I have to run things by denzil first LoL and cant spend wantonly. Not only that, if I want to spend a good chunk of money, I have to have a good reason. If I can prove to him that luau needs an upgrade, he has no problem letting me do so, as long as I stay within my montly "fish budget" and we have the room. So I was really hoping I would be told that, yes, luau needs an upgrade asap LoL.

Until we are where we want to be financially, we both agreed that we need to pay off bills, save, and work hard now so we can have what we want later. Muahahahaha, trust me, one of these days, I am going to have a house with a huge tank in every room. Bahahahahahahaha
